The rise of FrankenEngine - An engine for the VP-21

I have a Honda Sport 65 made in 65. It's slower than any of my Harley Davidsons! Harleys don't leak any more. Also the so-called leak was from the primary chain lube. Which wasn't all that bad. Hows that for an answer to an unspoken question?

    Experimental Aircraft Accidents Decline

Can anyone quote how many hours are flown in this past year sample? 44 fatals sounds high w/o knowing what to compare to.

Can wonder woman have her plane now?

Remember in Star Trek 4, (I believe), Scotty needed some large panels of "transparent aluminum". So he fired up the 'quaint' computer with a mouse that had to be manipulated by hand, not voice control, and gave the man the formula for TA.

Video series on TIG welding thin wall aircraft tubing

BTW, if any of you were at Oshkosh back in '74-'75 there was a Skybolt that won a Reserve G.C. I think it was. Painted White with Orange & Brown in Stits 'Wet Look' colors Boy did it shine. It was owned by a Doctor (natch), from Fullerton, CA. or near there. I was at his place one time. I know I...

    Reviving a hangar queen?

If you find your DC-3 I have a manual of operating procedures that was photo copied back in the early 70s. My dad was called in to inspect a 1937 model. I think it was the 1st or 2nd year produced. Nice old plane. My 1st time in one. It had ferry tanks instead of seats. I got sidetracked.

Video series on TIG welding thin wall aircraft tubing

Thank you. That explains a lot. I figured that the industry had come up with a way to utilize TIG or it wouldn't be used. I've only welded with acetylene. And that was a few years back. I'll try it again and see what I remember. I still have "o" & "oo" tips. You gave me a great idea about using...

Video series on TIG welding thin wall aircraft tubing

I remember back in the 60s it was bad to heli-arc a/c tube (4130) CM. Now Heli-arc is called TIG. In M/C (chopper) forks it would snap about a 1/4" to 1/2" from the weld. Has something changed? The long forks had an ability to flex w/o remaining bent. Was there a difference in welding process...

Aluminum Tube & Gusset Airbike / Legal Eagle / Parasol Thread

No I was not told that it was a SUPER Heath. Just that it was a Heath. Homebuilt. I do remember reading that the fuselages built in the factory were welded steel tube, but not the ones that were for home construction from parts. It was my feeling that he felt it wasn't safe for a home welder to...

Aluminum Tube & Gusset Airbike / Legal Eagle / Parasol Thread

No. I was at Fla-Bob airport back about 1974 Working on Steen Skybolt aircraft. and was walking the back line of hangers. I stopped in at Marquart's shop and in the rear of the shop he had a wood fuselage that was held in compression by wires & brackets. No bolts through the wood members. It...
