    Range Rider?

That will be a great performer ! Yes, I have frequented the Yahoo Preceptor group quite a bit over the past year.

    Range Rider?

Wow, that one is a different one than the one I looked at, and both here in eastern North Carolina. Go figure, go from a mystery plane to two at a time. This one is either being restored or never was finished and flown.

    Range Rider?

That is the one I went to look over and is in the pictures above. It is in very good shape and is complete, but I am looking a two seater. If were going for a smaller design like this with tandem seating, it would be to build an UltraPup no doubt. I think an UltraPup is a great looking plane...

    Range Rider?

I have now seen one in person, it is basically the same as a N3 Pup or more so the Super Pup which was a single seater like the N3 Pup but powered by a 4 cyl VW engine instead of the 1/2 VW. This one is actually N256RR and much of the early log data was done by Jesse Anglin himself. There may...

    Range Rider?

Well, it looks like this is a rare one for sure. I am going to go look at one tomorrow close to me, I will update with some information back if no one has anything before I go see it. I was hoping since it was an Anglin design and even his personal plane for a while that there was something...

    Range Rider?

Has anyone ever heard of a Range Rider? It appears to be a Jesse Anglin design and there were only a handful that ever existed. I have searched all over trying to find a picture or information on it, hoping someone has some information or pictures or links to such. I am told that one was...

    TIG or gas welding...

I recently purchased an Eastwood TIG 200 (AC/DC). New, they are about $800. Very nice quality unit that has been working well for me. I have not tried aluminum with it yet but hope to soon.

Homebuilt Experimental from Certified Aircraft Parts..Can it still be done?

I picked up a few missing items today for my project with the intentions to go in the direction of restoring it as a Colt. I think I need to really consider that as my best option at this point (although not likely the most economical route) due to alot of unknowns with my lack of...

Homebuilt Experimental from Certified Aircraft Parts..Can it still be done?

OK, that is good to know that I can actually use it for training. I guess hiring someone to go over it and test it would not be too bad to do then. I would want to have someone experienced go over the rigging, etc anyway. Problem is, Phase 1 testing is like 40 hours. My friend A&P would put...

Homebuilt Experimental from Certified Aircraft Parts..Can it still be done?

Well, I went for it and purchased the Colt project when I was able to negotiate an even better price, figuring even if I don't move forward with it I could part it out and easily recover my investment or even come out ahead. It was close by and just seemed like a good option for what I want to...

Homebuilt Experimental from Certified Aircraft Parts..Can it still be done?

Well, I purchased the Colt project I was looking at. I am torn as to what direction I will ultimately go. If I go experimental, it would mean that I could possibly use the fuselage and build everything else and have the battle of proving the 51% build by me. I think it can be done by just...

Homebuilt Experimental from Certified Aircraft Parts..Can it still be done?

I don't know, does it to the trained or experienced eye? I would think there are certain places on some planes that you could probably go straight to if you know what to look for. But like was said above, I would hate to start a museum at my house with the first display being the little plane...

Homebuilt Experimental from Certified Aircraft Parts..Can it still be done?

I thought the same thing until I read it somewhere that some people have used the Colt fuselage for a Wagabond build since they were the same build and size. I pulled up my PA22-108 drawings and sure enough, it is shorter and just like the Wagabond fuselage.

Need some help deciding on a budget build...

There is a set of unused Sonex plans on Barnstormers for $495 (says can be registered to new owner). There is also a complete airframe kit for a Zenith 601XL for $10,500. Looks to be an unstarted kit. I know the guy selling the Zenith kit, he lives close to me and is a good trustworthy guy...

Homebuilt Experimental from Certified Aircraft Parts..Can it still be done?

I have been considering building an airplane such as the WagAero Wagabond, J6 Karatoo, or similar. Something that may fit into LSA guidelines (but not absolutely necessary). I have several sets of plans for different planes, including the Wagabond, J6 Karatoo, V6 STOL (Javelin), Preceptor...
