    BF-109 G10 sculpture

Nice shape you have started there. Hope you have a good spot picked out in the living room. :-) I have been thinking that a wood rudder and elevators from the G10 would look good on the wall but other projects have priority still. Good Luck and Happy Building! p.s. love the guard on the Ford...

Just Daydreaming - A-10 Warthog Replica w/TJ100 engines

It now depends on the amount of thrust your engine puts out. We went round and round with the feds on our number 3 Me262. Just offhand I think it was engines under 1500 pounds of thrust or shaft HP if 1300 or less are not covered by special rules.

Zen and the Art of driving aircraft nails.

Hey all, The other day while working on on my airplane I was putting together some bulkhead sections on my plane and had to install a good handfull of aircraft nails and discovered something I had not experienced before. I think everyone has driven nails into a wall or boards of some type...

Is Anyone Else Building Two Planes at The Same Time? Cygnet and Fly Baby

I think I qualify. I'm working on my little airplane made of wood in the same hangar that I'm rebuilding an A6M3 Zero. This hangar has always had too many things going on at once... Me262's, F-104's, T-6's, Fw190's, T-18's. It's been crazy over the years. Currently in the hangar: 1...

I'm sorry, I have to say that that is the cutest engine I have seen in a long time. :)

    What is this called?

Fly it! Fly it! Fly it! Fly it! lol, I love jet noise. We had some that were going to be put back in the air here at the project but the buyer wasn't happy with the amount of corrosion we found and backed out. To the point, I think what you are needing is the little brass or copper furrel...

    Component Part Number suggestions.

The number of shops that have the ability is not equal to the number of shops that will take a single drop off part and get it back to you in less than 6 weeks. Around here there are alot of shops with great ability... but you will be in line behind any of the Boeing work that is already in the...

    Component Part Number suggestions.

The CAD question is becoming more important for me lately as we are looking at the possibility of another Me262 build and I will need to make a number of wing ribs from scratch. The previous aircraft were build up from parts fabbed in Fort Worth. So to build hydroform blocks to press parts with...

    Component Part Number suggestions.

In a one off world it may not be overly realistic to part number everything... But when it goes from one to a second and then a handfull, where do you start? At three? Five? When you try to talk to someone about a part... "it's the third squiggly thing in the upper left corner of the drawing...

    Component Part Number suggestions.

Messerschmitt used a part number scheme that was broken down in sections so that you could identify the origin of the part and the general location it came from. Example: 262.500-003.092 The first group of 3 numbers identify the model the drawing belongs to: The Me262 The second group of 3...

    How much t-88 epoxy?

Whenever I go to a fast food eatery that has condiments in bulk I try to fill my pocket with the little plastic cups they put out. :-) Work great for mixing up small portions.

    How much t-88 epoxy?

Just a note om the T-88. I purchased a kit from Aircraft Spruce and planned to only use it for my project and have used it for all sorts of things for home and work as well. Must figure out a way to work that into the estimate as well. Love the T-88 myself. jet

    Converting Plans to metric

I suppose if the truth be told... I work with both systems and am comfortable with either, what annoys me is dealing with the lost in translation crowd... "I can work to a tolerance of .002 inch but .05 mm is impossible!" I guess it's just me. LOL jet

    Converting Plans to metric

When I was in third or fourth grade we learned the Metric system and the country never changed! Still makes me mad the U.S. is one of three remaining holdouts. Metric is so much easier / better. jet

FAA Says Hangars No Place For Homebuilders

I look at the contents of our hangar, not counting anything that would be considered 'backshop': wing assembly jigs x2 complete wall of shelving with molds, tools and materials x3 shears, brakes , saws, drill press, shrinker and stretcher (numerous) Hoists, wing jacks and 2 forklifts we use for...

Where to find complete blueprints ju88, Do-17, bf-110 for full scale replica ?

Smith won't help you... Won't sell to you without legal guarantee you won't build from them. Wouldn't sell to us when we restored the original Me262 from N.A.S. Willow Grove because we were also building flying reproductions as well. But... There was a great source of manuals for these...

FAA Says Hangars No Place For Homebuilders

I don't believe is should matter what items you have in with your airplane as long as they are your property and not illegal in themselves. The items that have drawn fire so far, this is with an airplane in the hangar, have been household goods, building supplies, boats and cars. The latter...

FAA Says Hangars No Place For Homebuilders

We received an email on this subject at work last week. It has already forced a few people to relocate from Paine Field (PAE). The combination of raising hangar rent and the county no allowing people to keep items for storage WITH an airplane in the hangar. We will be nearly a year before you...
