    10/23 Raptor Video

In theory, the seals should not be seeing full oil pressure, there is a return fitting at the bottom of the box that is supposed to drain oil back to the engine sump, he even installed an electric scavenge pump recently to help with the oil leakage problem he has had. Don't really know how much...

The prop will drive the engine at climb speed.. I had an incident a few years back with my Subaru powered RV6. It has a 2:1 reduction drive. On climb out, I had a circuit breaker failure which killed power to the ECU. Aside from a loss of thrust, the engine RPM did not change much. My...

    10/23 Raptor Video

Go back and watch the previous video again. The electric heating portion of the thermostat was not hooked up to a powered lead on his ECU. It was not functioning at all. He wired it to a terminal designated as an aux cooling fan so that he could program it to turn on at a selected coolant...

There is one lever for engine control through the FADEC for throttle. The FADEC takes care of mixture and such. There is a separate control for the prop pitch, I believe it's an electrically commanded governor.

On a serious note, is anyone around the Valdosta area that can go check on Peter? His youtube channel has 5 days and over 1,500 comments since the flight, and Peter is conspicuously absent. No comments from him at all. Some of the comments that are still up are the type that he typically gets...

Well, apparently my comments about his dragging brakes not being "normal behringer behavior" has gotten me kicked off, too! Whatever will I do..........

I was there when one of the weigh jobs was done at Cherokee. Approximately 3,100 lbs empty weight.........

He does have to leave the belt installed, it runs the water pump and alternator in addition to the compressor. Don't recall for sure, but it might drive the prop governor.......

The Wasabi video mentions that the rudder pedal geometry makes it very difficult to apply rudder without inadvertently applying the brakes..

The A/C compressor is belt driven by the engine..

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Perf one of his recent videos, his airworthiness certificate has been renewed and updated to take the relocation to Valdosta into account... His "flight" was legal in that sense....

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

When he first brought it up to Cherokee for final assembly, one of the guys who did a lot of work on it mentioned that the engine package, firewall aft, was about 1,000 lbs...........

Another quirk of the engine ECU programming---A while back, in one of his videos, Peter mentioned a "feature" of the ECU that would automatically dial back the power if the engine was beginning to run too hot! So, think about this scenario. Initial climb out and the engine begins to overheat...

He’s been renting an apartment or long term hotel here. I’m sure he will relocate near the airport.

Word around Cherokee airport today is that he's moving to south Georgia. Valdosta. KVLD. 8,000 foot runway.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Up to this point, even Peter has realized that he wouldn't be a good person to do the actual flights. I hope he doesn't change his mind under pressure......

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

This is pure speculation on my part, but the previous times Justin and Elliot were here, they arrived via commercial air lines and drove up to the airport. On this trip, they flew in with a PA30 directly to Cherokee. Part of yesterday was spent with them flying around the airport area looking...

Yes, Cherokee is my home airport. Watched Justin and Elliot take off. Word travels fast on a small airport!

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

6,000 feet is 1,000 more than Cherokee. The big issue is where to go if there is a major problem right after takeoff. Cherokee is surrounded by lots of trees and little, if any, open ground. The only decent option would be Interstate 575 which runs roughly parallel to the runway, about 3/4 of...
