    Boeing - Design Issues...

You learn by holding a pig while its being castrated. Try that on a 200 lb'er. O' the joys of growing up on a farm. I was 14 years old and 6'x200 lb, and sure glad they castrated the right one.

Harbor Freight Predator 670 V-Twin Horsepower tests

I have the parts to build the converter. Then I can remove the little 12V, 7 amp battery that I use for the pitch trim servo, oil temp gauge, and handheld radio. Now I need to catch up on the things I want to do, that I didn't get done the last 3 weeks.

    Perfect Rivets

I use from my lifetime supply of rivets that I bought at North American Rockwell surplus store in Columbus, Oh back in the 1970's. 10 cents a pound.

    Perfect Rivets

Yes, most commercially made bars are cast iron with polished faces. If making your own bucking bars you will find that they need to be made heavier than the cast bar. So a cast bar will be smaller and able to get into smaller spaces for the same performance.

    Perfect Rivets

I had a tool and die makers make me several different size and weights of bucking bars but for some reason my favorite is a cast bucking bar. I'm sure someone will know why. Have a box of special made bars for certain problem areas. If you have reskined a Cessna stab you will know the rivets...

Harbor Freight Predator 670 V-Twin Horsepower tests

Been doing the same thing for my non-electric C-85 on the JMR. Using the stock starter clutch and reduction gear, powered by a 20 volt small profile 1/2" drive battery drill. About 1/2 finished and been sick for 3 weeks and not able to get to the shop in the hanger. Also was installing the...

    Perfect Rivets

Daughter and I have drove many, many rivets over the years. She uses the rivet gun and me on the bucking bar most of the time. We go by the amount of hits by ear. She stops and I tell her it's OK or needs one more hit. If it's OK we go to the next rivet and if one more hit is required, I say...

Harbor Freight Predator 670 V-Twin Horsepower tests

Just a note-- I have a B&S 22 hp engine on a John Deere zero turn mower and now a little over 200 hrs and its a great little engine . I just run it a little over idle speed and has all the power I need. So far I like the engine. Not so much the light weight mower frame.

A SPIF-fy Way Of Forming Metal

I took care of all the equipment that did the progressive metal stamping for VW of America in building the VW Rabbit body and also making parts for GM and Ford and Chrysler. Also designed the automation for the stamping lines. Work stations, etc, etc. They had 120 diemakers and 150 stamping...

    Olin Kane's VP-1

Rebuilt a VW engine used in a VP-1 many years ago. Did some flights up and down the runway in ground effect checking the engine out. Then the owner flew the VP-1 for a few years and sold it. Everyone that flew it, liked it. I think its a better little airplane than most people think.

    Electric Dakota Hawk

Always thought you did a great job of running the company. I remember when the company was not far from me in Southern Ohio. My old flying and building buddy of 50 years did some welding for Mike Fisher at the time. The Super Koala prototype was in the hanger next door for many years and...

    Formula-I?

I know its out of the ballpark but the little 1200 cc, 40 hp, VW is a great little engine. I built one and flew it on the the SSSC for the first 32 hrs. Just to small for my 235 lbs at the time. WOT at climb out was 3600 rpm on the Culver 54"x24" prop giving about 500 FPM. Cruise at 3200...
