Why battery-powered aircraft will never have significant range

Respectfully - With this attitude how will anyone but those who pay no attention have the confidence to move away from the old ways (which are not always better)? i'm gone! not looking back! i was always good at following my on path. That an a healthy disregard for whether people care for me or...

Why battery-powered aircraft will never have significant range

Having read the general tone of conversations i notice that the conversation quickly headed off towards range limitations etc. I think it would be nice to see the jyst of the discussion try to identify where it would be applicable. Motorgliders were mentioned and trainers. I think a lot of...

EAA No Longer Has Free SolidWorks

I teach CADD. I have used all of the big names. When i used SolidEdge for work in 2005 it was sketch based. Not used ir since. It was an OK piece of software and perfectly suitable for the machines we were designing. Solidworks is better. CATIA is better still! Let us know if it no longer...

EAA No Longer Has Free SolidWorks

Solidworks was far better back in the day, but i happily used Solid edge at work making expensive machines. It had some unique features i enjoyed. Solidworks, solid edge, and onshape all share the same lineage. Having amassed many thousands of parts in SolidWorks i won't be switching back. But...

    3D Scanning for Homebuilts!

Right! Modified beyond recognition! I believe it to be more close to a "modified" Eiffel 385 airfoil. i found it on bigfoil.com I have scanned it an made a wind tunnel model to test for the usual parameters. Just for fun! The leading edge seems sharper than i am accustomed to.

Great. Perhaps you already do this; One thing i recommend is to replace the command manager tool icons with your own custom one. It is faster and a better experience. Save your perfect setup as a backup with the copy settings wizard and make a .sldreg file. Use it in a read only fashion and...

I understand your sentiments and hear many similar comments said in different ways. Im a teacher who has it in my classroom and pays for it out of pocket on my computer! I'm very happy and productive. Students who want it outside my classroom pay for it themselves. The price has been approx...

    3D Scanning for Homebuilts!

Now what if you don't have the ability to trace a finished wing? 🤔? I was hoping to find the airfoil i need...found one close. Compared them at a 62" chord....not so close afterall. Called the out of buisness buisness partner to ask...he said modifed clarkY. Not even close! It flies...

SW Student Edition is Approx. 100bucks with full functionality. Annual subscription! Considering it is a mechanical design package that is an industry standard thing....100 bucks is reasonable. Lots of online resources available. Just throwing that out there!

    3D Scanning for Homebuilts!

Interesting! Havent used CATIA in 20yrs! I was very close to building a big index jig to locate everything i need. The scanner was more simple and cheaper. I tried a revopop and then ditched it for the einstar. I still use a tape measure and cernier calipers. The scan helps to make big...
