Big 2 stroke
Won't take long to hack the boxes off and rig up chain reduction drives to a common shaft for the prop. You could use a couple of 250 MX engines to get 90+ as well but of course you will have new pistons/rings around every 30 - 40 hours and maybe rod kits yearly whereas the 500's are quite...- Kram

Safest most reliable way to operate a 2 stroke?
As you are talking about a week to 2 week time frame I will respectfully disagree with you, the fuel will not "go off" or oil separation to any worthwhile degree in that short a time frame but when you start talking months you may have issues. Yes and it's been done but not efficient enough to warrant. Note that the system isn't far from a uniflow 2 stroke anyway. I noticed Toyota has a patent on such, try Google patents 'toyota' and '2 stroke' - you will be shocked at how many 2 stroke patents are out there. Double ended water...- Kram

Loop scavenge 2 strokes wear faster because rings have to pass over ports/port edges and also rings are fixed, ie: unable to rotate in their lands as a 4 stroke ring does so the rings tend to cause scoring going up and down in the same location. 2 strokes with uniflow scavenging aren't as prone...- Kram
