    Replacement Fluid

In 2009 I did a road trip with a friend from Washington down the coast to the redwoods in Northern Cali. He had a Ford Expl(od)er, and one day we had lots of magic smoke and even some magic fire escape from under the hood. We kept it running, but some things didn't work so well, like the seet...

    Replacement Fluid

The car I wish I still had was a 65 Valiant 225 slant 6. 5 wires to disconnect to pull the engine. Never had a lick of trouble with the electrical. 80's and 90's For trucks on the other hand drove me to distraction tracing intermittent electrical gremlins. Had a ranger melt a ground wire the...

Need help with 582 Egt high on rear cylinder only.

This probably goes without saying, but if it's dual carb, make triple sure you don't have a partially plugged jet. I've cleaned a lot of carbs, enough to know i don't always get it on the first go around if its a carb new to me. Doesn't take much to throw off the mixture. Barring that, air leak...

    Replacement Fluid

An old friend of mine used to tell me that if the British had invented the hammer, it would have 7 moving parts and leak oil. He rebuilt and raced old Jaguars before I was born. Great stories and sense of humor.

    Cessna 205 engine failure

About 24 years ago I helped remove a wrecked 205 from a ditch in Skagit County. Crank broke, guy got it all the way down onto a country road, but it was a narrow road and he clipped a stop ahead sign. So close. Kiddos to this guy for professionalism.

I came across that several years ago. Well worth the watch.

lower piston ring is stuck on 1 end. what to do?

Also crank case seals can get hard and leak with time. If it sat a long time should probably have new seals.

What can be done with an 0-235?

3 bladed props for 185's please. The 2 bladed seaplane props will turn your ears inside out. Sidenote, I used to live on the beach, in a town only served by seaplanes.

Why are C150s (and other trainers/entry level planes) suddenly so expensive??

A good friend just sold his strait tail 150 for something like 27k. Faded paint, rough interior, very old panel, handheld radio. Recent engine overhaul. A ferry pilot flew it down to Texas or Arizona or something.
