    Crazy idea: U2 Spy Plane

Ernie Gann's book The Black Watch has a dramatized story of the first U2 landing. Its not a glider but it will float.

Craig Cato's New Propellor Gave Us Insane Results! | Whisper Sling Prop Test

Hopefully someone who can use a dB meter on their phone will measure this. Since noise is also subjective they can compare it other noise.

Report: Boeing 'Put Wall Street First, Safety Second', Creating 'Yearslong Decline of Safety Standards'

I have seen quite a few companies where salaried employees had to move around to make more money. The joke was that once they got god at their job it was time to move on LOL

The hot mess of aviation magazines because of Firecrown

I had an issue with a password when ownership changed. I emailed and had a response, apology and fix within twelve hours. Consolidation is probably the only way to make this financially appealing.

I've gone soft - need help on some aero

Some texts do not use a building block approach and throw formulas at you. Hiscosks' Design of Light Aircraft explains this stuff well.

    Inherent, quiet?

Keep prop tip speed down and put a good muffler on the engine. Use a massive barrier on the firewall and remember that the the db scale is logarithmic so small numbers can change the perceived noise level a lot.

    Olin Kane's VP-1

Make sure you check the cockpit size. That is a small plane. And the bird looks like a parrot LOL

    Kitplanes Magazine - August 1995

I had a pdf but can't find it now (of course!). Years ago I wrote to Mr. O' Neill about is mods but he said he was very old and it was a long time ago. He made a new cockpit pod with better landing gear and brakes, moved the control stick from the underside of the wing to the cockpit floor. The...

Thanks! I have these references and will take a look.

    Bulkheads

This will probably not sound like the smartest question but I couldn't find a goods answer that was comprehensible to me. In an airplane fuselage what are the purposes of a bulkhead? I know they provide an attachment for heavily loaded parts like wings or landing gear. But I also see them...

    Holcomb Perigee

Here is the letter but it was not what I thought it was. Somewhere I thought I read something about Holcomb's dissatisfaction with the weight of TPG. The Microimp was way over weight. My memory could be faulty too.

    Holcomb Perigee

When I can find it I will post the letter that came with a photocopy of his book talking about the limitations of TPG. He said it would be good for smaller pieces but too heavy for larges ones.

    Amelia Earhart's Plane

When the Electra was taking off from Lae the trailing antenna tore off. Jackie Cochrane said it was "suicide" to continue without it. This was in the September 1977 issue of Flying magazine. Earhart did not know Morse and was stuck with voice...

    Amelia Earhart's Plane

TIGHAR has covered a lot of this. Their visits to Niko have yielded some items that could be related to her.

According to Mike Kimbrel everything happens slower than in a Cub. He owned the Guppy for years.

    Parts Wanted Stewert S51 PLANS

The one the auto body guy built or the other one? I think the auto guy painted his yellow. I wish Stewart hadn't used all his resources on the metal one. By going going so big on kits he took a took a huge financial gamble.
