    SeaStryder amphibian

Hello everyone...its been a while since I last posted. We have accomplished quite a bit over the past 2 years in the development of our hydroplaning floatwing amphibian. You can see some of the results of this work by simply typing in "SeaStryder" while in YouTube. There are videos of both the...

    New Seaplane Part2

Thanks Ashraf. Our collaborative effort in 2000 and the work that the company has done since has been very exciting and challenging indeed. The 1/8th and 1/4 scale aircraft have shown us much about the floatwing concept and it's operational characteristics as well as the techniques required...

    New Seaplane Part2

Floatwing On that particular occassion Craig we were videotaping one of the many water performance runs of the aircraft to achieve the water-handling qualities we were after and the shot is one frame from that video. We spent quite a bit of time doing the water runs to get just what we wanted...

    New Seaplane Part2

Thanks Jake....Iv'e got the jpeg stats now so should not have a problem again (I hope). Just a reminder folks....this is a 1/8th scale R/C aircraft demonstrating the basic hydroplaning wing concept.

OK Craig...I tried real hard to telepathically project the image at 8:00pm EST so I hope you got it before you see it the old fashioned way:roll: I took your advice and sent it to Jake...thanks. Ray.

Sorry folks, the attachment didn't make it.....file size is probably too large. I like the telepathic projection idea though :gig:

    New Seaplane

Thanks Jman for your encouragement. The project began simply with my own desire to build a seaplane that I could cross-country travel in, a dream I have had since I was a youngster. Out of this came a new approach to seaplane design and I eventually found myself in the kitplane business...

    New Seaplane

Thanks CAB for your comment.....I hope we can avoid most of the well known mistakes that other start-up kitplane companies have made in the past although I am sure we won't avoid some new ones !!

    New Seaplane

Hello everyone, I would like to introduce my company and give you a little bit of information on a new type of seaplane we are currently developing. As Ashraf Othman has already indicated in the "Float Flying" forum, my company Aquavion Aircraft Ltd. (pronounced aa-qwaw-vee-on with emphasis on...

    Hydrofoils

Wow...you guys really run with a subject !! The Barracuda I referred to was of the fish variety and the "tuck" was as you described Everyman_flight. Those are incredible speeds you quoted for the torpedo...its amazing what you can do to "fool" a projectile into thinking it's moving in air via...

    Hydrofoils

Yes Jman, I think it might be possible to develope a variable AOA system to reduce hydrodynamic lift as speed increases with the hydrofoils becoming unloaded by the wing above. The aerodynamic lift-off or stall speed of the aircraft would probably need to be less than 40 mph (just a guess here)...

    Hydrofoils

Opps...I ended the previous post too soon (just waking up here this morning folks!!) The cavitation problem that I was referring to can occur when a highly loaded hydrofoil travelling at relatively high speed and at a depth of several foilspans to ensure the generation of upper surface...

    Hydrofoils

Thanks everyone for your welcomes. This is a great forum to learn from and possibly contribute some kernels of knowledge and experience gained as well. Yes, Orion you are correct in saying that the use of the term cavitation is often used interchangebly with the term ventilation however it is...

    Hydrofoils

Hello everyone..this is my first post so please bear with me. As Othman has related to you, my company has been developing a new type of seaplane, officially since 1996. Mr. Othman was instrumental in getting the proof-of-concept aircraft operational and in performing wind tunnel testing and...
