I like this option too. Are there plans available to build a Tri-pacer? It's good that you can widen and strech the design. The Tri Pacer looks like it was designed for Munchkins.

Ehh?? You're thinking of a different plane. The Encore is powered by a Conti TIO-360. It's a "medium body" and has the highest payload of all the M20's.

Yeah, that Bearhawk looks like one nice plane. Lots of bang for the buck. Do you know how it compares to the Murphy Moose??

Only if and when I win the lottery. I was hoping that twin engines would've been a cheap way to add power and reduce take-off by blowing air over the wings. In what kind of scenario would a twin be more dangerous than a single? The smaller the field, the less chance of having "neighbors"...

Ahh, my bad, I was thinking of the O-480. Yeah, the 470 looks like a better choice, it's much lighter than the 480.

I'm interested in airplane camping. Not trying to prove anything to anyone.

Since there's been so few twin engine bushplanes, I'm curious to see what one could do. Perhaps a design like this would be better off powered by a big-inch 4 cylinder like a Superior IO-408?? But there's planes out there that can already do that mission like the Murphy Moose and Found...

The Bearhawk is looking like the best option, but as a kit, it's a bit pricey. It claims loads up to 1500. Has anyone here built or seen one configured to that spec??

Technology has passed these planes by by a little bit. Can't the Bush Hawk (or E350) carry 1500 on 300hp?? The M20K Encore caries 1200 on 220hp.

Does Lycoming still support the 0-470?? How much does it weigh? How much power can you get from it?

Marines also have another couple of sayings: Semper Gumby= always flexible Semper Scrodum= always on the ball. :gig:

Ahh, I see. Had a hard time making sense out of that situation at first. I totally agree with where you're coming from. I left the Marines largely due to poor leadership in my squadron. I didn't want to risk another enlistment where I hated my bosses. It's not like the civilian world where if...

WHat's the cheapest that someone could put 220hp into a plane? (single or twin)

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I suppose you could help some with the wing (long wing with slats and large flaps) but then you slow down a lot.

The main problem with Correctional officers in California is that they've developed a powerful Union that costs this state millions of dollars that it doesn't have.

I've been thinking for some time what kind of plane I want for the missions I'd most likely fly, here's what I've come up with: I'd like a 4 seater in which the rear seats can be easily removed and when removed, would leave at least 6'6" of floor space between the back of the front seats and...

What About Substituting Titanium Tubing for Aluminum Tubing in Fuselage?

Not exactly, and here's the truly scary part. Crew chiefs and chassis builders, in order to save weight and meet an NHRA regulation for chassis strength, decided to use thin wall 4130 tubing that was HARDENED!!! (I forget the spec it was hardened to). Several of the chassis failures were...

Hi there AEV2! How did you get recalled to active duty? There wasn't much going on in the mid 90's IIRC. I was in from 93 to 97, not much happened then.

    ...just an earthbound misfit.

No problem. I readily admit to being ignorant of a lot of aircraft stuff, so I rely on my experience in the racing industry, my time working on planes in the Marines, and the AS 9100 certified shops I've worked for. There's quite a few planes out there that have parts made by me.
