What is the correct file name for downloaded GRT Avionics Nav Data? Is it NAVDB? Or, NAV.DB? The file name must be 100% correct to update my EFIS. My Windows Computer always renames it, and I don't recall the correct name. Called GRT, no answer.

    75% power?

Certified engines are set to run at 75% power in cruise. Ok, we all know that. So...let's take my LS376-525 engine. Redline is 6500 rpm. Does 3500 rpm equate to 53% power? Does 4500 rpm equate to 69% power on the LS3? Is power linear to rpm?

    Aircraft Registration Extended?

As I was checking on the status of the FAA registration on a particular aircraft (Maule), it was noted that the paperwork with the plane had an expiration date of 2025. When we checked the FAA Registry, it shows an expiration of 2029. Did the FAA grant an extension on all aircraft...

    G3X Touch AP / FD

My plane has flown a number of times, but the Autopilot has never been engaged. The FD bars have never been in view. The AP / FD mode annunciator has always been blank. The downloaded data says - power up - fail - servo comm error. 307 control head, dual axis AP. Any ideas as to what the...

    Autoflight New Zealand PSRU

Just got my questions answered by the manufacturer for their 600 Series PSRU regarding power rating, max RPM, and gear life. "According to the gear cutters, gears only, 4500 rpm, 600 hp, around 700 lb feet torque. But as revs drop so does ability to handle torque, it also drops off. This is...

    Top Tier Mogas

My plan is to burn E10 93UL most of the time. My C8 owners manual states "Top Tier" fuel as a requirement. The price difference is significant. Walmart 93UL is $3.49. Exxon 93UL Top Tier is $3.79. Those of you who are burning 93 pump gas, are you buying Top Tier fuel? If yes, why? If not...

This is the first engine run after rebuilding the aircraft. It has a new camshaft installed by Hutter Performance, in Chardon, Ohio. I have Odyssey batteries installed, a PC625 and a PC370. They are over 3 years old, and appear to not hold a full charge. An Odyssey charger is on them 24/7. What other brand of battery is recommended and suitable for aircraft use? Replacements have been ordered from Odyssey. The PC370 is no...

    Plexus vs Pledge?

My can of Plexus is nearly empty, so was looking to order another 13 oz can. The price? Almost $50, with shipping! I used Lemon Pledge on my C-172 for 11 years. It worked great, and even made water bead up and run off. Why has Plexus become insanely expensive? Is there any reason not to use...
