    Radio Control

http://sci-toys.com/scitoys/scitoys/computers/radio/computer_controlled_transmitter.html this is more what i was looking for. I was wanting to build my own multichannel rc transmitter because im a poor college kid and i think it would be fun. The crystal oscillators that are discussed in that...

    Radio Control

Sorry if this is off topic but i figured there is probably someone around here knows a little somthing about this. A moderator can feel free to delete it if it is too off topic. Ive been wanting to build a an rc aircraft that is controlled by my laptop, more of a uav i guess. I know how to...

    CoG Determination.

sorry i overlooked the unaccelerated part in your post Billski. Im a little confused on the dM/dAoA < 0 thing. Does it mean for the plane to be stable, as the Angle of attack increases, the moment must decrease and vice versa? Also is the dM/dAoA a constant for each aircraft or is it somthing...

    CoG Determination.

So to briefly summarize things in my head: The sum of the lift produced by the wing and tail must be equal in magnitude and opposite in direction to the mass times gravity and the sum of the Moments on the plane must be zero for stable level flight. Is this correct?

    CoG Determination.

Thanks for the reply everyone and for the link. No need to send me the spreadsheets, im just on a qwest for knowledge, my courses thus far havent covered this topic. So when small companies make kit planes, how often, if ever do they just end up throwing some weights in the plane to put the...

    CoG Determination.

Thanks for the reply wally. I had no idea that for larger aircraft the cog can be changed in flight. So essentially when a plane is first being designed they have to determine the cog the same way it is determined in a mechanics class?

    CoG Determination.

I was wondering how engineers go about determining the CoG of an aircraft. I know how to find the CoG for standard shapes and composite areas using double integrals and what not, but there has to be a more efficient way for engineers to go about doing this. From my knowledge the CoG is...

thats amazing that they can pack that kind of technology and power into such a small package

    Jet enigne idea

shouldnt what i have pictured theoretically work as a ram jet without needing a leaf blower though? I have done some reading on jet engine theory, nothing ever seems to mention how the engine starts spinning in the first place. Back to the thing about the flame coming out the front, isnt...

    Jet enigne idea

Wow thanks for the quick responses guys! Why would the gasses come out the large end? I know the picture doesnt look like it but i have the holes on the tubing pointed towards the rear? I figured that the fiberglass wouldnt hold up to the extreme temperatures. I know GE uses carbon fiber...

    Jet enigne idea

This may or may not have been thought of by someone allready but here goes, tell me what you think I attatched a rough schematic of the design. It is basically a combo between a pressure jet and a turbo jet. Here is my theory behind it: 1.The engine is started with either a spark...

just a guess, but i think that site may be a scam, this airplanes dont look very trusty at all and those are some pretty shoddy drawings.

    helicopter contorl system

the concept of weight shift scares me, what if you over shift your weight.... does anyone know how i can make this design of control system?

    Proposed Homemade Rotor Blade

thats pretty cool. The rotor i am going to be making is out of the pink extruded foam covered in fiberglass. If all goes right things should work out pretty nice. o ya did you ever get my pm Bob?

    helicopter contorl system

well im about to begin making a tip jet heli and i need a little more info. could anyone give me some info on what the contorl system on this helicopter is(the handle bar thing) http://web.northstate.net/~emdeedee/propcopsmall2.jpg i have seen it on several gyros also i just cant find any info...

    Tip Jet helicopters

well poze and my plans for our tip jet helicopter have arrived and in the making of the tip jet engine we need 1/8" x 12" galvanized pipe. Does anyone know where i can find this? I couldnt find any at the home depot. I have never seen pipe so small in diameter. The jet on this thing sounds...

    Homemade rotor

i believe we are going to go with a jet tip helicopter now, there is just too much that can go wrong with a prop copter

    Tip Jet helicopters

the only reason i dont want to use a pulse jet or pressure jet is because as far as i know you have to have the rotors actually moving before you can fire up the jets.

    Tip Jet helicopters

Im in the research stages of building a propcopter, if the prop thing doesnt work out we are planning on making a tip jet instead. Does anyone have some information on how to make a pressure jet engine?

Thanks Bob! You have given me me much hope could you by anychance take some pictures of your rotors and prop?
