    Focke Wulf 190 A/F

FW 190 Hi, there is a full scale 190 replica being built at Camden, SC. Looks like the tubular fuselage is close to complete, sans skins. I did not see any wings. Plans are to use a R-1820, or similar. I keep meaning to go and get pictures...but haven't. It's a good hour drive, that I have no...

    Aluminum head for Vortec V-6

FYI if anyone is building or planning to build a 4.3 V-6, Brodix has added there aluminum heads to the online catalog. I'd guess these will save another 40 pounds or so of FWF weight. Considering the claims of how much lighter the typical airplane engine is, combine this 40# with an IVO prop...

    Riveting Tutorial?

I was referred to a VHS tape by "Orf??" I bought it, and it was helpful in teaching me the rudimentary basics of sheet metal work. Having no metal experience, it was a big help. You should be able to search this forum, and find more info about this tape. Good luck.

    Chevrolet engines

I am thinking aluminum V-8 also, but the traditional Gen 1 engine. 350 al block and heads, low rpm torque type cam, small port heads for low rpm ops. I'd like to make around 250hp, and gobs of torque, way down in the rpm range, with V-8 smoothness. I'd still use a PSRU to help dampen harmonics...

    Should Wood Homebuilts be Hangared?

This is one of my concerns also as I consider what to build. I'm currently thinking along the lines of a Fisher Horizon that has folding wings, allowing me to trailer it home and keep it in the garage. My concern with that is that maybe airport owners wont be crazy about letting you use there...

    TURBINE WARBIRD REPLICA

I understand that there are numerous problems with such an endeavor. However, as food for thought, I was considering the possibilities further. The little Fouga Magister turbines looked interesting also. I read that the Marbore VI puts out a little over 1,000 lbs of thrust. I think it said that...

    TURBINE WARBIRD REPLICA

Something like the Viper jet would be great, but only much cheaper.. For what those kits sell for, you could buy a L-39, or T-33, or????

    TURBINE WARBIRD REPLICA

Looking for ideas on a jet warbird replica? I was thinking of using something like a L-29 engine, which is relatively cheap, and building a F-86 look a like? Anyone else ever had such thoughts? Hopefully this combo would bridge the performance gap between the two, and not cost half a mil to build?

    eaa biplane

I'm thinking of going to look at a eaa biplane that's up for sale. Anyone here ever owned one or flown one regularly? What are its pro's and con's? Anything in particular to be looking for? Any hidden vices? What kind of performance numbers do you typically see? Thanks. Boyce

    Instructional videos?

Thanks for the tip on the Orndorff video. I got it last week, and have watched it twice. It is VERY helpful. With this all being new to me, I wasn't even sure what back riveting, and deburring was. I've ordered a few more tools that I saw in the video, and am really anxious to get back to work...

    Instructional videos?

Thanks guys! CJ; yes I dreamed of a RV for a while, but everyone's building one, and being hard headed, I just have to be different! Even my friends are encouraging me that direction..At this point, I'm only in for a tool kit, and flap kit for the Mustang II so I guess I'm still wavering...

Does a Chevy rotate the same direction as a Lycoming? If not, anyone know who offers a cam, and starter for running it backwards?
