    Dynavibe Prop Balancer for sale

I thought I posted this earlier, but it never showed up...must have hit the wrong key. Anyway, I have a Dynavibe "Classic" model engine/prop balancer. I used it on my RV-12, an RV-4, and RV-6, and a Pulsar, all with excellent results. The unit consists of a light source, an accelerometer...

    Affordable modern gyroplanes?

Some years ago the safety of autogyros was a serious question due to pilot induced oscillation. I see little mention of that now; is that because of better training or design changes? If design improvements, what might they have been?

    Question for Rotorway exec builders

A few years ago at OSH I asked the (I believe) CEO of Rotorway why the entire frame of the machine had to be replaced at TBO. He said that there was a lot of vibration in helicopters. I believe he is correct, but to replace the entire FRAME means disassembling the whole machine ! WOW !

    Exhaust Pipe "Dents"

Thanks for the suggestions. I think after considering the possibilities that I may just cut off the exhaust pipe where its been damaged and have a new section welded on....that's work I have to hire since I don't have welding equipment or skills. Thanks for the help. JohnWF

    Exhaust Pipe "Dents"

I have a used exhaust pipe that has a welded-on output tube that normally extends into the air stream. It was somewhat 'squashed' by previous owner, not closed up, but no longer round. I thought of using an exhaust expander to round it out again, but doubt that would work. Short of cutting it...

    Yuma Colorado

Glenn, I live about two hours flying time in my RV-12 from Yuma. What is the project type? If it is something metal, like RVs maybe I could help you if no one closer to Yuma comes forward...seems someone from Denver would be a logical source...if no responses here you might try posting your...

    Ipad Oddity

I flew down to northern New Mexico this morning to get closer to the nearest ADS-B ground station to check operation of the Sky Radar ADS-B system; that went well. I had smooth air with occasional turbulence. When the engine was cut back to near idle on descending to land the Ipad began that...

    Overview of kit helicopters

At Oshkosh a few years back I asked Rotorway why the requirement on their ship to completely replace the entire framework structure at 2,000 hours. They just said, "Well there's a lot of vibration in a helicopter." I more or less accept a 2,000 TBO on engines, but on the airframe it really...

    Ipad Oddity

Thanks for the hints. I will try locking the display and see if that helps, and will also try dampening the possibility of mount 'shake' - I am using a Snake Clamp (brand name) mount that seems pretty stable, but will try both and see what happens... JohnWF

    Ipad Oddity

I thought I posted this yesterday but it never appeared...anyhow, I have an Ipad "3" in my RV-12 using Sky Radar and WingX software. So far, so good. I notice that when the Rotax 912ULS engine rpm is reduced to around 3000 rpm or so that the Ipad orientation 'flips' as if you were turning the...

    How old are you?

I guess I either 'win' or lose this age competion depending on how you see aging. I am 81 and flying my second homebuilt. So far this year I have averaged a flight every three days; flew exactly 100 times last year, and hope to greatly exceed that in 2012. Flew down along the mountain range in...

    Long distance flight

Oh I forgot to mention a funny bit from Johnson's book...he related showing his RV-4 with all the fuel tanks, etc, to school children and explaining how he could relieve himself with a 'relief tube' when one little girl said, "But where does the pooh go?"

    Long distance flight

Read Johnson's book for some good insight on trans-Pacific crossings...its really good reading and you will see planning used to the utmost. His cross arctic flight was even more interesting.

Don't go flying in Italy... unless you're a millionaire...

A few years ago I was billed by the Australian Gov't for over $800 USD for a landing fee. They wouldn't stop billing me, adding interest and fees every month. In spite of explaining that my RV6A had only 39-US Gallons of fuel maximum I couldn't have landed in Aus, and besides the landing date...
