    Investigate the PA-16 Clipper. Max Gross weight is about 3/4 the Tri-Pacer. The O-235 engine is about 3/4 of the O-320.

    What airplanes have you flown?

    I was privileged to fly the ‘37 and the Skycrane. They were very different machines. The ‘54 was great for lifting, but we ferried it at 90k. We flight-planned the ‘37 at 120k and we had a fuel tanker and an oil tanker meet us.

    Powell Light Biplane, 1925

    What an elegant little airplane. It appears to me that the lower part of the seat-back bulkhead is where the aft spar attaches. Somebody should build this airplane (in wood or metal) with a few minor modifications and use a modern industrial V-twin engine.
