    Air Force hummor?

Harrier to make last operational flight | Daly History Blog I didn't realise it had gone either. It will probably be replaced by the F-35 or not at all.

He's actually explained it already, if you look back through this thread.

    Northrop N9

I love flying wings too - to me they just look right! I would really like to see the horten 229 flying, but this would be a lot easier - twin props instead of twin jets. Seems simple by comparison :gig:

    Man, I'm loving this....

Beautiful plane. I quite like it with the open fuselage!

High speed low drag aerobatic concept

I'm not sure about this, but I have heard marine engines can't run upside down as the oil runs up into the cylinders. If you want an aerobatic plane that would be a problem.

    Horton wings?

Sorry to bring up this really old thread, but I've been wondering how much it would actually cost to build a new Ho229. It's such an amazing plane, I think it deserves to be put back in the air. The Jumo 004 engines could possibly be replaced with Honda HF120 having the same thrust, but much...

    Synergy Aircraft

Thanks for the links. I can see your page, but if you don't have the links above you can only see 11 construction photos instead of the whole lot. It's looking good! Can't wait to see it flying.

    My 2nd plane design

You get the sketchup plugins. There are hundreds of them to download free from here - http://forums.sketchucation.com/. You can do loads of stuff with them but they aren't as user friendly as the rest of the program. This has been made on sketchup::eek:

    Units in Raymer's book

Ok, thanks for all the information, guys. I'm not really looking for specific answers, as I'm not really seriously designing anything at the moment. I've just been trying to get my head around some of the methods in the book. At least I know where to come if I run into problems in the future;).

    3D Cad (Lesson 101)

Thanks so much. I've been looking for something to replace my hopelessly outdated Autosketch v5! This looks great. From trying it out quickly, it looks like it does have some sort of 3D modelling functions but I can't work out how to use them. It always locks to the xy plane. Is there a...

    Units in Raymer's book

I understand how you can work out the units of the number you get out. What I want to know is how you work out the units of the numbers you put in. Most of the time it is obvious, but sometimes it seems like he leaves you to guess.

    Units in Raymer's book

That works for simple equations, but it can get very long-winded for equations within equations or if you don't know what units something is measured in. One more thing - if time is measured in seconds, would endurance or loiter time also be measured in seconds? Like having range in feet, that...

    Units in Raymer's book

This has probably been discussed before, but I couldn't find it anywhere. In the 'Aircraft design, a conceptual approach' book, what units are you supposed to be using? I'm guessing its feet (decimal?), pounds and seconds but would you measure range in feet rather than miles? Is speed always...

    Will It Ever Fly?

That helicopter looks amazing! Do you think it's actually safe? If it is, why doesn't everyone have one?!

    Powershape-e

According to Raymer, the tails are big enough (I might have made a mistake though:tired:). Maybe I'll try putting them on the outside. I was just trying to minimize the span because it would be quite hard to take the wings off for transport.

    Powershape-e

Here's an example of what you can do with it after about 2 weeks on and off. This is one of my crazy designs! There is no render facility in the free version apart from putting on background images like this. Incidentally, what do you think of the design - is it feasible with that tail...
