    2 seat Folding wing designs

:)You will have to check dimensions, but the Sherwood Ranger biplane kit has folding wings. TLAC is the company, England I believe. Best of all it is WOOD! JB

    Tailwheels

Before I purchase the "Tundra Lite" Pekola tailwheel I found that Beringer Aero make very nice lockable one also-Very pricey. BTW its for my Dakota Hawk (Vagabond clone)-LSA not U/L. JB

What is the best aviation story you have read.

The latest one I'm reading is: Zero 3 Bravo, true story of young lady flying a Luscombe across the USA and back, solo. Not available as ebook/Kindle but used for $5 delivered-fun read! JB

Dakota hawk weight minus the engine?

Most Dakota Hawks come in over 750# with a Continental engine. My friend in Ca has a 912s in his Hawk total weight with engine is over 700#. Installed, a 912 is more than 150 # depending on accessories, exhaust, oil coolers etc etc.... jb DH103

    Controlwing ULX-17 from Argentina

Just saw this older thread and wanted to say that you can flare the Spratt103 for landing, at least I can in my 2 models Spratts that I built. Both wings can work together in landing flare (not just in opposite directions like when banking). It worked in my 25% and 50% scale Spratt103s. JB...

    Dakota Hawk questions

I "heard" on the Youtube video Paul said that it can be flown with windows open if you have the correct window attachment (on bottom of wing) to keep it open. I don't think he mentioned allowing the doors open in flight, cub-style???? JB

    Cutting geodetic strips

I am building Fisher Dakota Hawk from plans BUT, I don't want to use a table saw. I have a miter, scroll saw etc. So, the only pieces of wood I bought so far that were pre-cut were the Geodetic strips. I bought them directly from FFP when Paul R was the owner. I only needed the geo for the...

    Fisher Flying Products for Sale

:)Dan, I like your gap seals, will implement on my Dakota Hawk. Been doing something similar on my r/c planes for years with surgical tape. I am waiting for my wing hardware from FFP, will be first order filled by new owner (with Pauls help). Thanks, JB

    Aircraft wood "too dry"???

Pops, You have it made there! What's that green stuff on the ground? Is that what they call "grass"? Your plane and Dan Wards Hawk look great. If I recall, Dan has the 100hp 912 also. Back to the shop to make some more sawdust. Best of luck on the Bearhawks. JB

    Aircraft wood "too dry"???

The Hawk above is Mike G's in SoCal. It's flawless. It has the Rotax 912 100hp and with 2 aboard it jumped off the runway in about 4 seconds. My 1st homebuilt flight is something I will never forget! Thats my left wing with the LE ply T88 drying-I have a ways to go! Thanks Mike!

    Aircraft wood "too dry"???

Thanks for all the info everyone! I am plugging along with the build and just glued on the leading edge 1/32" ply this am. I also finished the laminated wing tip bow and glued that in place. I am building from plans/scratch. Two weekends ago I went for a ride in a beautiful Dakota Hawk (plane...

    Aircraft wood "too dry"???

I have been taking lessons in a 172 that I bought this year and preparing for my checkride. My wood Fisher Dakota Hawk wing has been sitting in my garage for about a year now-unvarnished-as it is about 95% complete. I am in Arizona, and even though I keep the shop below 90F, the wood is getting...

Anyone know what happened to Danielle/building Dakota Hawk?

Been trying to get in touch with Danielle who posted her build on the Fisher Dakota Hawk. Last I heard was she was spending the summer in Alaska and going to resume the build in Fall 2013. I am building a Hawk also (one wing done) and found her thread most helpful. JB in AZ:ermm:

    Certified engine question?

DJ thnks for info. I realize that I CAN work on my engine but I am on the bottom of the learning curve regarding engine work. Maintenance is ok but anything more complex I dont see doing myself unless under supervision which is a possibility. Maybe my friends Lancair did have a warranty issue...

Thanks auto reply, I know that for additional $ Rotax offers the certified 912 S.

    Certified engine question?

I guess the 25 hour test period is not THAT important to me in the grand scheme of things. I really cannot see the point of going with a certified engine on an experimental, at least what I am building. I wonder if an A&P would be hesitant to work on a non-certified engine down the road? I have...

    Certified engine question?

I have been considering a Rotax 912 uls almost exclusively but for several reasons (including the sound ;)) I have been also considering Continental O-200 or C90. When is an O-200 considered a certified engine/prop combo (hinting at the 25 hours Phase 1)? Or what makes one become a...

Looking for wood only High wing STOL aircraft plans to suit ROTAX 503 Dual Ign

Dan, I have often wondered how a Super Koala would do with the HKS 700T (turbo 80hp) engine. With that engine you could actually have a 2-place, side by side, STOL type bird. 4-stroke, light weight, build it to the 900# GW and it could actually carry 2 people with decent climb! What do you...
