    DIY gauges??

As mentioned, I’m not a coder, so mission one is get it functioning. Then I can sweat the small stuff. I’ll post the ode if you’d like to have a go on it. Thanks for all the suggestions. Also, any input on the original question of programming with 4DGL would be appreciated.

    DIY gauges??

This is what I found using Realterm on my laptop hooked to the ECU (manufacturer’s something format) to RS232 converter module. (I didn’t attach directly to the ECU) The “int8” seems to match what the data protocol says it outputs. For example byte4 corresponds with the TPS (throttle position...

    DIY gauges??

Did that attached file above not show that information? I thought the ECU output in TTL UART to a standard RS232 converter (then to a clunky Windows application a decade old). But, i measured 9.75v on the ECU tx line, and the RS232 converter is custom made by the ECU manufacturer. So, it must...

    DIY gauges??

Has anyone used a 4D Systems Display (Diablo16) reading a RS232 output in a gauge systems? I've got the easy part out of the way using Visi Genie (attached), but now comes the hard part of reading the RS232 datastream that the ECU outputs (attached). I'm not a coder, so it's going to be...

    Roller blade wheels as tailwheels

Famus makes aluminum hub rollerblade wheels. I ordered some and they seem like really nice quality. The JN-4C would have to be really moving to melt those hubs! (now, for the tires...)

    Roller blade wheels as tailwheels

I use 42mm rollerblade wheels (machined narrower) for tip wheels, and 100mm “scooter” wheel in my Monnet Moni mono wheel gear). Lighter weight aircraft than you, but still pretty high landing speed. I get higher durometer and put in high-quality bearings. They hold up well on hard surfaces for me.

True Story about TrueLite — Update on this Much-Anticipated Part 103 Ultralight Entry

I believe the OP is looking for an affordable machine (as I was all those years ago). Some of these suggestions seem like they would hit the wallet pretty hard. I seem to remember way back that Teman supplied “industrial “ tubing that met his spec for the 5” spar tubing and 3” boom (vs quite...

True Story about TrueLite — Update on this Much-Anticipated Part 103 Ultralight Entry

Some detailed specs and photos here. Hopefully they get good interest and are successful. I’d like to have a simple open air machine again and like the design. https://www.aviad.eu/technical-information-truelite

True Story about TrueLite — Update on this Much-Anticipated Part 103 Ultralight Entry

-I was able to store mine wings on, so never looked into that -headline horsepower at high RPM is fine, but a flatter and broader torque curve is more enjoyable flying. I don’t have experience with paramotors, but really like the idea of balance shaft, and integral gear reduction of those...

True Story about TrueLite — Update on this Much-Anticipated Part 103 Ultralight Entry

Do you have plans? I’m not sure where mine went. It must’ve been easy to build because I did it at 18 years old and I was self taught fumbling my way through. It was a great airplane. That was once I quickly ditched the Chotia 460 from my Woodhopper (yes, Woodhopper……) for the Rotax 447...

True Story about TrueLite — Update on this Much-Anticipated Part 103 Ultralight Entry

Similar configuration to what I built from plans when I was 18-19 (a year or two ago….). Over 300hrs of great flying in that machine. 5” tube spar with Eglass ribs. Open air, low and slow. Super way to fly.

ADC Chip Detector replacement O-RING size

That’s a somewhat unique cowl removal for two guys who haven’t done it before. then two guys and a mess as one guy sticks his finger to plug the quick drain recess while the other guy (hopefully quickly) removes the ORing , measures, and replaces without damaging it, and then swaps finger for...

ADC Chip Detector replacement O-RING size

TFF Thanks. As mentioned, the plane is in the UK and I'd like to get one while I'm in the US. Inch sizes of anything there can challenging to find there. I forgot to mention ADC is long gone. Obviously that would have been my first stop.

ADC Chip Detector replacement O-RING size

Does anyone have the size and material of the O-RING used on the ADC chip detector? (O-ring, not the copper washer). My plane is in the UK and I’d like to get the O-ring while I’m still in the land of imperial sizes. ( USA). My O-ring is getting a little dated and I’d prefer the drain not to...
