    Moni Motorglider

I wouldn't do an A tail.. may have trouble getting out of a spin as the side loads raise the nose - where as the V tail lowers the nose. I think an SV thermite got into a flat spin with an A tail. Spinning model sailplanes seems to support this - although I did tuck one inteverted once with a...

    Moni Motorglider

Thats my Moni at the start of the thread. I am trying to find a good light set of mains to replace the mono wheel, however...It taxi's so well with the monowheel. The wing comes up quick and you can bank around the corners. Later mods include lengthening the mono wheel for more prop...

Why battery-powered aircraft will never have significant range

The best wecan hope for out of lithium, is to maybe get a 7 fold increase in energy density to ' equal ' petrol. A Lithium oxygen battery can sort of do this but its basically a bomb and is toast after 1 cycle. Renewable made Hydrogen and Ammonia or the powdered carry medium would be a better...

Small aircraft in the Smoky mountains

If you cant afford a 912 powered bush plane, go for a Trike. Look for the lighter slower models. I did 400 hrs bush flying with them before GA, very capable, someglide ability, and you can land pretty short. Have flown in storms, biggest issue is just back on the ground and handling the wing.

What was the first airplane you flew in and how old ?

Lots of great stories here. Me 7 yes old Piper tripacer, standing up in the back, too excited to sit down, probably no 3rd seat belt their either. First powered flight, solo ( no dual available), pegasus canard, 17 yes old, after about 1,000 hrs rc model flying and a few dual glider flights...

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

If we had a light weight glider with 20 sqm of wing area (curved) we would approach 8kw of power in full sun with this cell. Barely enough as a sustainer, don't hold your breath for even this cell to be commercially viable at a weight and price we could use.
