    My aviation journey, updates

Ultralights can weight up to 300kg (350kg if they're on floats), to fly them you need a VDS license (Volo da Diporto e Sportivo), witch means that you can fly small airplanes but just for "fun" and with some regulations that I don't really remember, it cost around 4k to get it.

    My aviation journey, updates

Yes, I've already traveled a bit but everytime time I have the chance I go out to see new places and meet new people to help me in my journey, as for the "saving money for the license" part I don't know, that would require a tremendous amount of money, I'm trying to see if I can get my license...

    My aviation journey, updates

It really Is a beautiful place, sometimes I feel a bit lonely and think why I'm still on the Island, but then at night I look at the sea and at the stars and it's beautiful, not an artificial light in sight, the sound of the waves on the rocks, and I think that maybe it's my place in the world...

    My aviation journey, updates

Thank you for your words! I'm trying to stay focused and trust the process and it's very hard, still, I'm not going to give up, I've been dreaming about flying for YEARS and nothing can stop me.

    My aviation journey, updates

Hi! for those who don't know me, I'm an Italian 21yo who lives in a VERY small island, years ago i fell in love with aviation and everything changed, I discovered this beautiful forum and realized that even if I'm stranded in the Mediterranean sea I can still enjoy aviation, so my journey began...

    Fiberglass shell

Yeah I was expecting a little bit of work for an aircraft monocoque, since most boats have to "just" stand the force of the sea and don't be crushed by relatively small waves, while aircrafts on the other end need to not crumble apart while flying ahah

    Fiberglass shell

I don't know how fiberglass monocoques are built, but I do have experience in boat building with fiberglass, and we just use some molds and resin, is that also the case for aircraft?

    Fiberglass shell

Nothing too fancy, I was thinking about a low wing very simple aircraft, the idea came in my mind when I saw a dude during a hill climb race that placed a fiberglass shell directly on a steel tubes trail, I thought it would be nice for an aircraft but maybe it's too heavy

    Fiberglass shell

Do y'all know if it's possible to build a fiberglass shell to mount on a wood structure? Because building a monocoque is kinda hard but building some panels and attach them on a wood structure would be easier and add some kind of rigidity to the structure I think, do you think it's possible or...

    Primary glider slingshot

Wow that looks awesome, do you know where I can find plans for that glider? Also, do you think it's a bad idea if someone with no experience at all try to fly that? Like how badly do you think I'll hurt myself if I fall?
  11. F

    Primary glider slingshot

I'll try, doesn't seem that hard and primary gliders looks fairly simple, plus we've plenty of boat building grade wood, if I can find someone with a bit of experience maybe I can learn how to fly kinda safely ahah
  12. F

    Primary glider slingshot

Wow I didn't think about that, if I can make a glider float I don't have to deal with the fact that we don't have enough space for landing
  13. F

    Primary glider slingshot

Eventually I think that this would be "ok", I don't think I have enough space to tow me with a car, but maybe someone can tow me with a motorcycle like other suggested, the island is very small but I think we can arrange some kind of take off and landing space

    Primary glider slingshot

So, my "aeronautic journey" started a year or so ago and I barely made any progress, I want to build an aircraft but I'm stuck on a semi-desert island and I don't have the resources to successfully continue, but recently I've been to lake Garda and the local flying community guys told me that...

    SAI Ambrosini 403

Its still called SAI Ambrosini i belive, or something like orologi Ambrosini, Witch in Italians means "Ambrosini watches" I really hope they can find something, I called an historical museum of the aereonatuca militare but they said they don't know anything about this aircraft
  16. F

    SAI Ambrosini 403

Yeah the aircraft was pretty neat but i think that as it was said previously in another comment in 1943 the war had already picked another direction, maybe if was completed early it would've been developed on scale. Anyway I called the company (that now makes wristwatches) and asked if they had...

    SAI Ambrosini 403

So, since my island is still partially covered in mud and the volcano is kinda erupting I can't sleep and I decided to write a post about my favourite italian ww2 prototype. Today I wanna share with you the SAI Ambrosini 403, a wood fighter plane prototyped during the ww2 because of the shortage...

    Pegasus spitfire MK9

**** that's a big engine, can I ask you where did you buy it? I'm just curious, I live in Italy and we really don't have a market for big aircraft engines, it would be amazing for me to have such a big and beautiful engine but I guess the price tag would be as big too 😂😂

How are the single heads made on a 1/2 VW?

I was wondering what's the process to turn the standard vw cylinder heads (that cover two cylinders instead of one) and turn them to a single cylinder head, are them cutted in half and then a piece of aluminium is welded? What valve covers do y'all use?

Is the rotax 447 a safe engine?

Didn't know them! Pretty sweet engines if you ask me and a lot of spare parts (most part stores are polini dealers), I'll definitely take a look, next weekend I'm gonna go at my local airport and see if someone runs them, to ask for opinions
