    277 exsaust plans, +

My specialty is electrical/electronics (analog) I would love nothing more than a electric powered bird, what little disposable income I have, dosn't allow me to just plop down the money for the existing systems. Though the flying is high on the priority list, the developing and finding better...

To fan , or not to fan, that is the ?

Thank you, good points. may fab the shrouds out of thin SS just because.

To fan , or not to fan, that is the ?

In the conversion from snow mobile engine to UL/LS is it considered better to leave the cooling fan intact or to remove it and the shrouding (weight) and use prop wash to cool the engine. One more belt to fail and a few pounds that might could do without ??? Opinions please, and the reasoning...

Iv'e seen a lot of engineers without a lick of common sense and most are restricted to/by profitability and liability. Remember according to engineers, a bumble bee can't fly.

Just picked up a 440 suzuki (old snowmobile engine)??? any thoughts on it.

Thank you guy's. So what is the limiting factor to higher power with out higher RPMs ??? I'm sure there is more than one, but the main one

Another good reason to look at different exhaust systems, been looking through here for a post on mods to the 277, I ran across awhile ago, still looking. Yet that post didn't give any Plans/demensions for exhaust

About 17,330sec ;) Would like to up the hp a bit, don't know that a full 40 is nessasary, yet the 22-26 is a bit sluggish ? looking for a quicker response in tight situations I'm very open to reality checks

I have the 277rotax on my UL producing a meager 22-26 hp., yes it works but not well. knowing/believing I can bump that closer to 40hp with some work on ports and a tuned pipe would like to ask if anyone here has plans for the tuned pipe, I'm on a non existant budget and would rather not have to...

Surface coating of bare wood components

Just passing on what the book said, I'm sure there are better treatments. PT: I think were talking about after the construction phase.

Sorry: Aluminum powder, 12 oz to a gal of spar varnish

    Prefered wood glue

Oh, come on guy's you know Gorilla Glue is the best (if you want to be swinging in a tree) This post is in jest only, not to be construed as advice or endorsement. :) Good luck

Surface coating of bare wood components

According to "Lightplane Construction & Repair" 1968 by Snyder & Welch. A do it yourself sealer of spar varnish mixed with at least 12+, oz. per Gal. and apply 2 coats is adequate for most interior wood surfaces, except hull bottoms or floats. Caution if using dope to finish, apply a dope proof...

The answer to Gorilla glue ???

Not sure if GG was used for the entire structure ? will be inspecting stem to stern with magnifying glass. Time and energy (or the lack of) seem to be my big problem nowadays, setting up shop for build hopefully this next weekend. When I start the inspection process I'll post pics for comments...

The answer to Gorilla glue ???

My impression of the problem is that the polyurethane glue cures out brittle, not bad for furniture, but not good in aircraft that undergo continuous flexing during flight. First I'll uncover the airframe and inspect all joints, then make a decision on whether or not to set a match to it or...

The answer to Gorilla glue ???

Ok, trying to savage something out of this. Was contemplating uncovering airframe and doing some re-enforcing at key points using dowels and the new West System epoxy. The G-force epoxy looks like a good choice for any of these projects, The FP-202 uses a X braced "geodetic" design, doweling...

The answer to Gorilla glue ???

No 100 hrs isn't what I'd call long term testing, yet Rodger has built many and sold his kits (up to 2006) with no reported issues with the glue. I haven't been able to find anyone else with any first hand data or experience with GG in an air frame (full build) I will continue to seek out better...

The answer to Gorilla glue ???

Let's sort out the wheat from the chaff, Does anyone here have actual empirical data or experience with GG ? Is there any documentation on it yea or nay in an airframe ? After a phone conversation with Rodger Mann, who says he used GG on wooden aircraft and over 100 hrs on some of the air...

The answer to Gorilla glue ???

I will be building a new airframe, have plans and shop, now need time. Will be using DF+Carbon and of course T-88. The gent who sold it is not returning Emails so figure a refund is not likely. I'll be posting the new build so you guys can keep me out of trouble along the way;) Thanks David

The answer to Gorilla glue ???

Thanks Guy's. Expensive lesson :ermm: but a good reminder " If you want it done right, do it your self " Just found a local company that has a large inventory of very nice old growth fir lumber some of the best strait grain I've seen, w/16+ to the inch in 1X and 2X material 7% moisture, and...
