Use of WEP (War Emergency Power) On GA Aircraft

They did test JATO take-off with an Ercoupe in 1941 with six small bottle that produce 28 pounds of thrust each. But each bottle weight 10 pounds so the power-to-thrust ratio is quite low. Very underwhelming i think. The more modern one produce 1,000 of thrust while weighting only 98lbs.

    Chinese military gyros

We might need to ask the guys from EAA to organize such a fly-in event. Optimistically only 25% of loss would be attributed to mid-air collisions.

    Chinese military gyros

Regarding the previous post about countering the gyro with Gepard SPAAG - it only has only a range of 5.5km. FPV suicide drones used in the ukraine war can eaily go over 10km. And they are cheaper than even an unguided anti-tank round. Since we have three occupants on the gyro, two of them...

Use of WEP (War Emergency Power) On GA Aircraft

Can we have this sort of throttle setting on our continental and Lycoming engines, without modifications that are too complex? A temporary 10% boost in engine horse power could be quite useful if you are about to hit a tree during take-off, even at the cost of an complete engine overhaul.

    Chinese military gyros

The gyro can well carry two javelin missile equivalents and become quite combat-effective. But the airframe would cost less than the javelin missiles. Making it into a UAV can easily triple the cost. You can probably buy four gyros for the cost of one single Russian UAV.

Crossing the Atlantic Ocean with a homebuilt jet or an electric aeroplane.

How about flying in the jet stream if you could get high enough?

Crossing the Atlantic Ocean with a homebuilt jet or an electric aeroplane.

I think you could increase watt hour-to-weight ratio drastically by having a tons of RC lipo batteries loosely placed anywhere, without any hardshell or fixture that increase the weight of the assembly.

Flying with a piston engine to FL 600

Which one could fly higher? A motorglider with a turbo-charged engine, or a motorglider with a small jet engine which weight significantly less?

Affordable Homebuilt Aircraft Kit With Homebuilt CNC

Could an aircraft design be optimized for production on a homebuilt CNC router table? A guy had indeed machined most components of a Cri-Cri out of his homebuilt CNC router, but that plane is quite complicated and it was not designed with CNC machining in mind. If a manufacturer offers a kit...

Indeed there is a Carlos who worked as an EE intern for Oceangate, I just found his profile on LinkedIn.

Oceangate Sub Construction Details and Implosion

Cup is made mostly of air, human is not. Human isn’t good pressure container too, once the air pushes out, the pressure would equalize quickly. So they don’t get squeezed into a ball. Does a dead whales automatically implode on its way down?

Oceangate Sub Construction Details and Implosion

Two endcap slamming together seems like a possible scenario. Perhaps at some point the collision created a high pressure difference that the porthole glass popped out - it’s designed to withstand pressure from outside not within. I don’t think the acrylic glassed failed although it’s not rated...

NASA abandons (cancels) their X-57 electric plane project

With the battery it will have the same wing loading as a glide bomb. Perhaps the same performance when the engine quits

Oceangate Sub Construction Details and Implosion

If the sub were within the influence of a strong underwater jet stream that can carry bodies to Haiti, they'd have to launch the sub 50 nautical miles "upwind" of the Titanic and recover it 50 nautical miles "downwind" of Titanic, since it takes 4 hours to get down and the sub cannot do more a...

Appears to be the titanium ring that was glued to the CF tube. At 0:47, you can see that the viewing port missing from the doom. Theory 1: The acrylic viewing port failed rather than the composite Theory 2: The workers had uninstalled the viewing port so they can pass a rope through it as if...

Oceangate Sub Construction Details and Implosion

Human is made of water not air. The squeezing would stop at some point 4300 psi doesn't do much to an orange, and humans don't turn into goos.

Oceangate Sub Construction Details and Implosion

It has no EPIRB beacon but a single communication device designed for UAVs. Therefore the communication with the surface ship is limited to text only. Yes it has an emergency pinger which can last to six days on its own battery, but it seems the implosion knocked it out.
