    Fisher Flying Products New Ownership/Factories?

If you want to see a Fisher aircraft being built to fine engineering standards, look up Algy Yates' Youtube channel, "Flying Kub". His workmanship is as beautiful as mine is crude.

    Fisher Flying Products New Ownership/Factories?

I bought a set of plans, which was frightening unless you're feeling very confident. I then changed my mind about which aircraft to build and bought a kit. If I was starting again now I'd buy a set of plans and the hardware package to include the undercarriage, cowls and fuel tank. The wood...

    Fisher Flying Products New Ownership/Factories?

I have found their plans to be a little inaccurate but not disastrous, I just check every measurement. The computer files might be accurate but large format printers are not 100% reliable.

Are all 103 ULs powered by 2 stroke engines?

My sister-in-law complains that her cars (BMW) are always giving trouble wereas ours (VW, Fiat, Jaguar) are utterly reliable. My wife has explained to her sister that we only ever use good quality fuel and about one tank in 3 is the Ultimate/V-Power premium stuff but her husband insists we're...

Are all 103 ULs powered by 2 stroke engines?

Agreed, it looks great but its price will bring you to your knees in despair.

Hummel UltraCruiser - a good idea as a first project?

Simonini claim 5 litres an hour at 5,000 revs. You have a 19 litre tank so realistically that's two hours with reserve and some caution on the claim. I'd be looking for a lavatory after 2 hours.

Hummel UltraCruiser - a good idea as a first project?

Much depends on whether you want the aircraft to sound nice or be light, it doesn't seem you can have both. I presume it's the latter so you're going to need a 2-stroke engine. The Simonini Mini 3 gives 36hp from 49 lbs, so there's a 36lb saving over the VW. If you're planning to stay in the air...

    Walter Mikron

I agree, to the extent that I bought the Turbi plans. I'll never build one, I'm 67 and up to my neck in building a Fisher 505 so if you'd like to make a charity donation to something worthy near you then I'll email you the package. It's all PDFs. One thing to bear in mind is that Frenchmen in...

To come out with techno-babble like this you are plainly under 40 and shouldn't be adding to this thread.

    Slow Flying Colors

For my ultralight I am planning on having 3 or 4 of these, as found on eBay: Knog Cobber Lil' 330º beam angle 110 lumens They should be easy to fit, won't require heavy and unnecessary wiring, look pretty bright and don't cost much. Better than nothing...

    A 4-stroke for my mini-cub?

Ah, so you seek the grail... Frankly, as other engines go, there isn't one although souping up your existing motor, as Daleandee suggests, is probably the cheapest option and the best. Trust me, I've been through the mangle on this one with my Fisher 505 build and every avenue I explore comes...

    Fisher FP-101 Specs

I'm in much the same boat, in that I'm building a 505 Skeeter and am turning myself inside out trying to decide on an engine. UK SSDR rules are a little different from your Part 103 regs but I still have to build a lightweight aircraft, 300kg / 660lb MTOW, including 230lb me. Right now the only...

What Did You Do To Save General Aviation Today?

I had another lesson in the 152 at Old Buckenham, UK. It went really well but I do have a great instructor. I should get to commence building my Fisher Skeeter next week.

Looking for an alternative engie for the 503 and 582?

Very little but it is still a tempting prospect. I have a used bluetop 582 in my possession but a new Victor 1 has allure, particularly at their weight, and the simplicity of a single cylinder engine is also a factor. I may well do it but it makes more sense to use what I've already got!

    New to the forum!

Murphy have some nice aircraft in their range, so much so that I tried to buy from them. I failed, they just wouldn't respond. If you get serious I'd be inclined to visit to see if it's a viable supplier. The RVs are great and a good investment too but people appear to take many years to build...

Ideal 40 hp/3000 rpm Direct drive inverted Two-stroke single cylinder engine?

I'm sorry to tell you that I don't have the skills to do this. Your definition of 'easy' is rather different from mine.

Ideal 40 hp/3000 rpm Direct drive inverted Two-stroke single cylinder engine?

I'm about to start building a Fisher 505 Skeeter which calls for a 40hp engine. I already own a Rotax 582 but would much prefer a 4-stroke and 65hp is a bit much. I can have a Honda Silver Wing 600cc water cooled twin with an Ace Aviation redrive. It would be lighter than a VW and give 48hp...
