    Bendix/King KY97A

Quick search over on supercub forum for your model, there was a post "I think there's a little allen screw.... " but the reply (c/p)was: "Yes indeed there are two of them.. smaller than a .050 and I could only see them once I pulled the radio. I was about to file a .050 key down to try and fit...

If you came into a spare million dollars…..

Interesting... the older I get the less I enjoy contorting and crawling under things, especially beside the road. I would drift towards things that don't need tools as I already have every tool I know how to use or will ever need. Last time I purchased a new car was near 30 years ago, but...

    C85 Stroker still 85hp?

To the original question is the C85 Stoker still a C85, Yes. Don's Dream Machines may be here on this forum, I'm just a previous customer. The STC Don Swords developed still uses the original C85's camshaft, cases are machined for the longer throw 0200 crank, and of course 0200 cylinders, heads...

    Kimbrel Dormoy Bathtub plans

In support of TFF's spirit that any problem can be solved, you might consider researching how the wing of say a KR2 attaches to it's center section. At the cost of say 2 lbs of thin plate 4130 including ~8-12 bolts, and addition of reinforced but ribs at the joint(s), it very well could be...

?why don't more a/c have ldg gear that holds them at t/o attitude

I'm glad you made that comment. Simple Cub driver here, but ~30-40 yrs ago (at the time at KLS) in your neck of woods learning what one learns in first 50-100 hours of PPL, a few landings at Ilwaco and Astoria with the normal significant touch of "ocean breeze" I learned of what you speak...

Dream Plane Build / Describe Your Ultimate Homebuilt Aircraft

I'll shoot for a serious thought: My dream build is a Spratt control wing themed side-by-side 2-seat modeled after the Spratt model 108 powered with an Aeromomentum auto conversion and with a well engineered driveshaft for TV concerns. The easier and more practical and utilitarian homebuilt...

    CGS HAWK REBUILT

Welcome! You might try the search function upper right of the page, discover others asking similar Q's to network. Quick glance I didn't see too much addressing your need, but Google leads to this CGS Hawk Arrow II Light Sporrt Aircraft Two Seater Plane . Reaching out to these folks would be...

What is your interest and/or experience with homebuilt airplanes?

I rarely contribute or comment (rather shy on-line, zero social media, two soup cans and a string is as close to whatever a tweet is I'll ever be). Own 1940 J-5A 30312, after couple decades flying now it's in ground-up restoration. This forum is like attending a classroom, so much to learn. At...

Mathew, any details on this lovely example? Model, year, are those wooden wheels (?). That does beg to be replicated one day with a V3...

    Painting with latex house paint

Yes. This was a nice string discussing water based latex and acrylic paints and primers like you would use at home. Note in the upper left hand corner of each post, you can see when the post was made. Your post 28 minutes ago, but the previous post was Oct 26, 2021. No worries, Have a Great Day

    Poly-Fiber and Ceconite

The folks at Stewarts are very approachable (awesome may be a better word, IMHO. Have reached out when needed with great customer support). Give them a call and ask them is my advice. I've used Ecobond for everything from veneering floorboards to it's intended purpose of gluing fabric to...

3M 30NF on steel and wood -- solvent resistance???

I'm personally a big fan of Stewart's Ecobond. Used per the instruction manual, zero issues. Did learn a few lessons using it in other applications. When using to bond fabric over powder coated tube, you must break the gloss of powder coat with light sandpaper buffing or the water-based product...

Suitable steel for all brackets etc.

Aft fuse is 1030 mild steel tube, cockpit FWD was fuse was only 4130. Think all misc fittings and brackets are 1030 with OEM. In my J5 could hang the airplane from a rafter by a single wing tank hold down strap :)

Suitable steel for all brackets etc.

As an example, reference the Fleetwings Sea-Bird from the 1930's made of stainless steel. Perfect for an amphibian flying boat hull design. First nuclear power plant I played with was 304 austenitic stainless for the reactor shell... as an experimental aircraft, you can use what you chose that...

Suitable steel for all brackets etc.

My short answer... YES. This link includes some basic properties, other equivalent names (e.g.: 304 stainless), scroll down and get to properties you can compare with chrome-moly. https://matmatch.com/learn/material/aisi-304-stainless-steel

How does a scale up affect airfoil center of lift?

Norman, I interpret this to mean that the differences in the grand scheme of things is within the resolution of what I can actually plot out on a fiber board to make a wing rib jig/template from… this is reassuring, thank you very much!

How does a scale up affect airfoil center of lift?

I love and appreciate all these responses. Remember the control wing as long as control deflection is limited to about 18 degrees or less is incapable of stall or spin. If memory recalls, about 22 degrees is where this airfoil breaks. If one does not use a collective lever plus a left/right...

How does a scale up affect airfoil center of lift?

Thanks Again! Used my office with big computer monitors so I could blow up my plans copy to "really-really large" and scroll across inch-by inch, bottom and top. There was only (4) cells I highlighted in yellow and re-typed to what I think it said. I believe the "x.xx" last digit was only thing...

Nerd alert! Airfoil Comparison: Modified NASA 65018 vs Clark Y, and NACA 23000 series

Truly a peanut gallery, but I was under the impression that the modified US35B Piper cub and most else airfoil was tough to beat for low speed carrying ability. Thanks for this thread!
