Everything I Really Need to know I Learned from my Fly Baby

In a single seat airplane, you get to see, hear, and feel experiences that nobody else on this planet got to. Every flight is different, and you were the only one that got to be there. The sunset and clouds you saw, could only be seen from that spot and at that time. There’s nothing wrong...

Tennessee Lawmakers Propose Legislation Banning ‘Chemtrails’

That morning I was putting fungicide on corn. That picture was during a 180 degree turn over another corn field, getting ready to line up for another pass. Approximately 120 mph, 2.5G in the turn. Note that nothing is coming out of the spray nozzles, just the baby contrail off the tip.

Tennessee Lawmakers Propose Legislation Banning ‘Chemtrails’

On a humid morning, the Air Tractor will make small, short lived contrails on every pull up and turn around. I had one with big winglets that almost never made contrails, but this one with Hoerner tips makes them more easily. You can actually see the rotation of the ‘tube’….spinning like mad!

Thank you for posting those wktaylor. Very interesting reading. Some of it is well above my understanding, but I gain quite a bit every time someone is kind enough to post those types of publications.

    Formula-I?

    Formula-I?

Consider the possibility that racing at public events under Part 103 could eventually lead to the end of Part 103.

    Socks

My dad was my initial flight instructor when I was a kid. As a former Air Force T-38 instructor, his style was very loud. I remember shooting touch and goes in our C-140 and my 12-13 year old brain was truly overwhelmed by the wealth of knowledge pouring out of him at a volume level of ‘11’...

    More than a shop stool

Some of the finest craftsmanship involves the “proper misuse of tools”. For example, I saw a tile guy cut half of a drain hole from a piece of tile with a table saw(tile/masonry blade). Beautiful fit…in 30 seconds.

Aircraft wood alternative from South America

I built a set of wheel chocks from scrap cedar I had on hand. they were beautiful, and are still functional, but the side pieces that were glued together have started to separate. I didn’t do any special cleaning, but they were planed on a planer 30 minutes before bonding with T-88. They have...

    Saving Ultralights From Being Banned

VB has many solid points. Question, what symbol on a sectional chart indicates that “ultralights” are not allowed? If a transient part 103 vehicle has no way(through a FSS or other)to know if the airport has prohibited them(through city ordinance), how can it be expected that no part 103...

Crashes in the News - Thread

The T-tail arrangement was designed by him, and was faster by his measurements. He actually sold it as a t-tail mod. I have no doubt it was a little bit faster. It was on that aircraft for quite a while, so I don’t consider it a factor. The lack of fire concerns me though.

RIP Mr. King. My condolences to the King family. I talked to him several times, when I ordered the plans, when I was going over the plans, and after I started building. He was always nice and patient with my ”rookie” questions. A wealth of knowledge of the Cassutt. I have a lot of experience...
