    My foam cutter

I have a soldering iron stand that has an adjustable heat output to the soldering iron. Soldering iron plugs into the stand. I'm thinking it might work for a hot wire cutter as well as my soldering iron. Thoughts?

    Electric Hybrid

Thanks, everyone. Sounded good to me, so I had to ask.

    Electric Hybrid

Just curious, but has anyone tried an electric drive with a remotely mounted generator. Might make for interesting weight and balance. Could possibly get the weight off the FWF. Opinions please.

    Zenith XL601. Main gear position.

That is my thoughts as well. I realize I'm asking for opinion rather than engineering data. Given the weight on the nose, what kind of increase in the size of the elevator would I be looking at? I can make two more that are longer pretty easily. Making a new stab and elevator would be a little...

    Zenith XL601. Main gear position.

They didn't think anything is wrong with the weight on the nose gear or the wing issues.

    Zenith XL601. Main gear position.

Already have the smaller Nippondenso alternator. And one of the magnetos is electronic. Anyone here flown a tailwheel version? If so what was that like? I think increasing the elevator size would be better. (?) As to moving the eng back, there is no room.

    Zenith XL601. Main gear position.

Moving the mains forward will reduce the weight on the nose. The downside is that you have an aircraft that looks a little weird with the nose gear and the mains so close together plus the problem of trying to enter it without banging the tail on the ground. Could move the step to the front of...

    Zenith XL601. Main gear position.

Battery is behind pax seat. Have light weight Alt. Will look into starter. I'm stuck with the Sensenitch for now. The extensions moving the main wheels forward a few inches are starting to look like a viable alternative. Move the step fwd of wing and don't start eng until everyone on board...

    Zenith XL601. Main gear position.

I Got by my hanger and had a look a the weight and balance sheets. It turns out my nose gear has 293 pounds which works out to be 35.5%. With my main gear slanted forward. It's gonna be a difficult fix.

Mine is raked FWD. Still haven't been to the hangar yet to get the weight on the nosewheel.

    Zenith XL601. Main gear position.

I will have to get back to you on that, my log books are at my hangar, but I will. If my memory is correct I believe it's closer to 12 or 15%.

    Zenith XL601. Main gear position.

Thank you BJC. I remember the concept I just couldn't remember which models it was used on. What would be your suggestion to compute the length of the extender? I'm thinking near the CG for Max take off weight as a starting point. Your thoughts?

    Zenith XL601. Main gear position.

Nice idea. Thank you. I'll work some numbers. I'll have to watch gross weight. I believe it is gear placement with this engine. The water ballast is a much easier change.

    Zenith XL601. Main gear position.

0235 with wood prop. Seems to be a common problem. At rotation speed it takes a lot of back pressure to raise the nose. On landing the nose wants to fall thru abruptly. Here is what think. Too much weight designed forward of the mains. I spoke to Zenith and was told the design included the...
