    21st century Volksplane?

I flew a VP-2 as a single seater for 550 hrs over 11 years. Plenty of room and quite comfortable with canopy and full turtle deck to the rudder. Had al gear with rubber disc dampening. Flew always from grass even when sealed strips available. 2070cc VW with efi. Slow but... 60kts, heck, we fly...

    Fate is the Hunter!

Best non-fiction since Night Flight. Gann documents the practical development of long distance air transport with riveting anecdotes. Places you next to him in the cockpit. 5 stars.

    Fuel injected vw beetle

I used Jetronic D hardware on a 2180 Revmaster. Drove it through Haltech F9 ecu. No problems for 500 hrs. No ice and even mixture distrbution. EFI beats carburettor like tailwheel does *training wheel* hahaha.

Extra Holes Drilled In MAX Pressure Bulkheads

This is exactly the recipe that MBA's use to avoid responsibility for their decisions. Hey look at this, no hands! Their claim as expense is avoided or really shuffled down the road for cleaning up after the catastrophe occurs.

New member from France - Volkplane project

I had a VP-2 for 11 years. Agree totally about the heavy ailerons and I had considered (but never eventuated) building al framed ailerons with extended control horns to increase mechanical advantage. Enjoyed everything except flying 2 handed on the stick in heavy going.

Mitchell Wing B-10 - looking for data

I think that I witnessed this build when visiting Melbourne in the early 80's. I was with Rod Birrell (UFM) buying a Pteradactyl kit. We visited a friend who was building a B-10. I was interested in which epoxy he was using which was Araldite K-134. which I subsequently used when building the...

    replica's other than p-51 p-40

Fellow named Willy Andiel built many "Andiel specials" In Australia in the last century. Willy has now passed on alas but he was a very interesting guy to talk to. Flew Me-109's in the last great war and had many harsh words for Field Marshall Goering. Anyway, at our annual Easter fly-in in the...

    The Urge to Fly

G'day Aeroenthusiast. We can't know much about conditions in Algeria but, if you are lucky enough to have this very strong urge to fly you can start by reading all you can find about aviation. This starts your journey and it may lead to where you wish to be. All best wishes Don

    Building a VW Aero-Engine

Reading your post #141 I remember the 1st time I put the case halves on a Revmaster. It wouldn't go together, being propped open at the thrust bearing end. As you said ALWAYS check that bearings are located on their alignment posts. Crankcase developed a crack in this area shortly after!

A few days in the biplane life, and my oldest ever passenger

Until recently, I owned a Thruster T-300 (semi open Australian 2-seat ultralight). The cable operating down elevator developed a 1 strand break about 100mm from the large pulley adjacent the stick. I have no idea how this occurred as the other 132 strands (7x19) were intact. Caution being the...

    21st century Volksplane?

G'day, I searched today for the original weight & balance in vain. From memory, DCA required heavy mahogany ply for ribs and possibly fuse skins. The aircraft was possibly 45kg overweight. Engine probably delivered a true 50hp in cruise. Don (young 70 annums).

    21st century Volksplane?

I will share my impressions of the Evans VP-2 which I owned for 11 years from 1995 to 2006. The aircraft was built to a high standard by a mechanical engineer in Australia under the current Dept of Civil Aviation. They required some sustitution of materials to meet their standards. Result was...

Grand Rapids Technologies EIS Instrument Failure

Thanks again for your interest and suggestions. This instrument has been installed in my plane for over 10 yrs. During this time it has operated without a glitch. It has only just become erratic, so I don't think it is an installation problem. It is possibly age related, however I will check the...
