    PIK-26 Plans set in English

Larger planes are in general easier to fly than tiny planes.

    Modified Corby Starlet

Let's hope for the best for that man and that plane.

    I Want One

IIRC, after Aviat built theirs, they discovered that the handling qualities were far from normal. I think that's why they abandoned the project.

    Resurrecting the Dyna-Cam

A few "thoughts:" * Any patents have probably expired * And even if they haven't, it wouldn't be worth anybody's time to go after a hobbyist * The engine is compact, much narrower than a side by side fuselage, so that compactness might be a wasted advantage * One problem with the 200HP concept...

Britain's Top 10 Most Beautiful Aircraft

I like the Mew Gull, at least with the original canopy. The cut-down canopy looked ridiculous! I actually got to sit in that one, and if I'd tried to close the canopy, it would have come down to just above my eyebrows...

    Parts Wanted Stewert S51 PLANS

It’s more like one and a half seats, I believe.

Parts Wanted Richard Bach - Travels with Puff

Bach has wrecked several planes, IIRC. Maybe it was Puff that hit wires on a landing approach, and also a P-51. I think. Maybe...

    Creating an itty-bitty Stearman

The trouble with all the tiny replicas of whatever is that they are their own airplane, with little resemblance to the original. The Stewart P-51 replica, however, did have handling characteristics similar to the original. Mostly, those replicas will require a certain Walter Mitty quotient from...

Thinking about developing a new engine for GA, but looking for a bit of feedback before starting.

If you're looking for an engine to build, how about taking over development of the Gemini opposed piston three cylinder Diesel? Really cool concept that's been around forever. Or the very impressive Zoche Diesel, which was a four cyinder radial (yes, that's not a typo) Diesel that was also...

    Small, cheap ADS-B solution now?

Fortunately, a few posts are correct on UAT, Mode-C etc. These days, there are lots of used Mode-C transponders with encoders for $700. If you never talk to ATC, you could theoretically mount the transponder remotely and leave it set to 1200, and that could go along way towards a...

Commercial Flights Are Experiencing 'Unthinkable' GPS Attacks

It's long been known that some truckers would have low powered GPS trackers so that their journey can't be logged. That was bad news when they drove by Newark (I think it was) airport. A Gulfstream pilot friend last month told of GPS jamming over the Mediterranean. No problem, they went used...

    Horrible news from Vans Aircraft

“Fraudulent junk?” Deliberate intent to deceive? Having been a Van’s customer for four decades, I think it’s time for you to join a number of others on my blocked list.

Why would you want an LSA when you could have a perfectly good MotorGlider instead?

Then there's insurance. My broker could not find a company to insure a Pipistrel Virus SW.

Can you see a flaw in this (classic) aircraft project (3 view drawing included) ?

Hmm. 660 lb empty plus two, 200 lb guys (less than average weight these days) and that leaves payload for seven gallons of gas. Average weights don’t work well for small numbers…

    Theory how lift is produced

A more interesting question is how much lift, and an answer in plain English is airspeed and angle of the wing to the wind (note the terms I’m not using). the angle to the wind is a measure of how hard the wing is working. Like everything else, there are limits. If that angle gets too big, the...

Why are constant speed prop types different in Singles, Twins, and Aerobatic planes?

On that Hawaii story - was that really this story? “All 31 occupants of a Pan American Boeing 377 Stratocruiser 10-29 survived a ditching in the Pacific Ocean after two of the plane's engines failed on October 16th, 1956.”

Why are constant speed prop types different in Singles, Twins, and Aerobatic planes?

There's another significant factor that nobody has mentioned yet, and that is helix angle. Helix angle has to do with the twist of the blade, so that as the plane flies through the air at a specific design speed, each part of the blade is at its own optimum angle of attack. This is not the same...

Stall Spin Resistance, a call to action...

Monday at 10 at Oshkosh in the NAFI tent, I’ll be presenting on AOA: setting reasonable expectations. Tuesday at 10, Forum 3, I’ll be presenting on Base to final, spin or spiral? Lotsa good stuff in each one.

    Leasing an experimental aircraft?

"Experimental" is ambiguous. There are, I believe, nine categories of experimental. For amateur built, I don't know of any legal way to rent one out for a stranger to fly. BTW, ultralights (Part 107) can be rented out, built commercially, etc.
