    New Gear Box?

For a good demonstration (at least for a non gearhead newbie like.me) of even firing vs odd firing V12's, take a look at these videos from YouTube. When the engines are idling you can see and hear how the even firing engines are much smoother.

    V12 Alternatives

Hi. Has anyone considered a Mercedes Benz M275? I think it's heavier than a BMW V12, but not more than a Falconar V12. It also has two plugs per cylinder and a 60 degree bank angle.

    There's a new V12 coming ;-)

Hello, all. Would a Mercedes Benz M275 V12 solve some of the issues of other autoconversions? It's a 60 degree V12 with two spark plugs per cylinder. Would the 60 degree bank angle thelp lesson the torsional forces? Thanks much.

    V12 Alternatives

Thanks for the explanation, Chris! MEDEVAC, too bad you couldn't use a GMC 702 V12. You wouldn't need a PSRU, but you might be a bit nose heavy.

    V12 Alternatives

You might want to talk with Elliot Seguin. He did some flight testing and ferry flights on a Walter powered Thunder Mustang. He has also been doing the flight tests on a LS powered S-51. I think he could give you a great comparative view of the two types of power plants in very similar...

    Aerosport Engineering V-12 info

What about the Thunder Mustang's PSRU? It's made for the power, torque and prop size. It's available separately. I know the Falconar engine has had problems, but I've heard nothing bad ahot the PSRU.

    Aerosport Engineering V-12 info

What about the LS V12? Seems like a much cheaper alternative with all the benefits of a much larger parts supply.

another Autoflight gearbox failure - this time after 34 hrs

Hi. I've heard of the Thunder Mustang engine problems. Are they primarily the Falconar engine or the PSRU? If the PSRU is well made, what about using it with the LS V12?
