    Hummel Bird

Does anyone have William Spring's "Hummelbird Build Video"? It is no longer available from Hummel Aircraft nor is it in their Build Video Library. Would love to get a copy.

    Hummel Bird

It is complete but the engine is trashed so am preparing to rebuild it. Turd, don't you have a Hummel Bird? If so maybe you can answer this question: is it possible to convert a tricycle gear HB to a tail dragger? It looks to me that it is just a matter of swapping the left and right to the...

    Hummel Bird

Hi All, I have just purchased a Hummel Bird project and have talked to Matt at Hummel Aircraft about plans. It seems that they no longer come with Bill Springs manual or the build DVD and the price has gone up to $275. Is there anyone on the forum here that has the complete set of plans, manual...

Member welfare check - AKA face on a milk carton

No Terry, I sold it to Scott Brooks in Cleveland if memory serves me. I do miss it though, really loved that little plane. I replaced it with a Champ 7CCM which my wife is working on her sport pilot in.

Member welfare check - AKA face on a milk carton

Speaking of faces on a milk carton, does anyone know what became of Mark Calder who was building the Robin Ultralight? I really enjoyed his Blog but there has been no activity since 2016.

Designing and Building a 1/2 VW Cowling for Quickie Q1

Years ago I built a 1/2 VW and had it balanced by a gent that balanced NASCAR engines. It ran so smooth you could put a full wine glass on top of it and not a drop would slosh over the edge. I put over a hundred hours behind that engine in a Mini Max. I have heard many people say that...

High compression pistons in continental a65

No body has mentioned in this thread that aircraft engines and air-cooled auto engines like the VW need these large tolerances because they are going to get hot real quick and then those tolerances are going to be real close.

    Cygnet

Hey Guys, I can second everything that has been said here about the Cygnet, truly a great little airplane! Mine was built by a Boeing employee to incredible standards with a GP 2180 VW. He sold it to a couple of guys in Illinois and one of them flew it over the Rockies to their home base in...

    VH-SRS 170 knot Sonerai II

I fully understand this statement, I went off with a couple of friends to look at a K8 Glider. During the inspection I climbed in and was checking the fit when the owners wife came out of the house, noticed me in the glider and ask what I thought. I looked at her and responded " when I left home...
