    Biplane

I'm not sure if 85hp is enough to drag two wings and two people around. I haven't seen it. I think you'll need to use a higer powered engine or, if you're stuck on 85hp max, give up a wing or seat. Good luck.

    Tiira

I was looking at a website showing an aircraft called Tiirakuvia (Tiira). An interesting looking aircraft and I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with it. The google search engine is a dead end. The page is here (I emailed the builder): http://www.rotecradialengines.com/customers/olli.htm

Designing a room for the build

The perfect build space I see the post down further about building locations. Just wondering what your dream space would be like. I'm probably going to sell my house and build a new one. I'm still looking to build either the Bakeng Deuce or Hatz Classic. I want a good room in which to build the...

    Roll Call

I'm here, not posting much; mostly reading. Thinking about building a Hatz Classic or a Bakeng Deuce. Right now, building a wooden swingset from plans for the kids. Next I have to add eight feet to my screened in porch. If I can do those, maybe I'll try a plane. I've also built a balsa model...

Already nervous; not even close to starting

We have a screened in porch. We want to extend it it about ten feet out. Seems like a pretty straight forward job, except I'm not sure about removing the end where the extension will join up. I'm not so sure about roofing either. I'd also need to rent the circular saw, nail gun and air...

    Pocono Mountain, PA

Pocono Mountain Municipal airport (PA) is having a Aviation Day May 30th, 2004. It runs from 8AM to 1PM and they have breakfast. An open House runs all day. If you want more info, you can call them at (570) 839-6080. The airport isn't too far from the New Jersey border.

    New radial engine

New rotary engine In case you hadn't heard: From AOPA: The first flight of a Swiss-built, Wankel-based rotary aircraft engine, the turbocharged Mistral G-230-TS-B1A, occurred on April 4 aboard a Piper Arrow III at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Mistral...

    Thinking about building

The sectional thing was a joke, but still I haven't seen one since 1989. I've been on IFR flight plans ever since. I found the Rotec site yesterday and another regarding the M14P radial here: http://www.gesoco.com/engines/m14p.html . I originally found the Hatz CB1 site...

    Thinking about building

I always wanted a plane reminiscent of the barnstorming days of biplanes. I can't see spending a fortune to buy and maintain something like a Stearman or Waco, which I could rent nearby anyway. I was taking glider lessons last year and my instructor had a Fisher Celebrity. It was the first time...

    Books to read?

Are there any books I should read about building and welding? I see several in the Aircraft Spruce & Specialty book. By the way, should I think about the spruce kits or spar kits I see in there (for Hatz or Duce)?

    What to build?

There's a lot of good info here and perhaps this thread should be stuck to the top of the forum. Anyway, I've always had a thing for biplanes. So I found myself thinking about building a Hatz CB1. I liked the idea of buying plans and putting a little bit into it every month. One thing I don't...
