    SkyVector Question

Student pilot here with no experience, but a lot of book-learning. I have a question about using SkyVector to do a simple flight plan. So, I was goofing around with making a flight plan to fly from my home airport in TN to visit a friend of mine who lives in Sarasota FL. I chose as waypoints...

Why the 'shocking' price of aluminium matters

So I got a response from a local company in Memphis this morning (Ryerson). He quoted me on .125 and .190 4x12 sheets. I responded to him and thanked him for the response, "but please watch this video, and pause it at the 9:20 mark to see what GA EA-B airplanes require." He had told me last...

Why the 'shocking' price of aluminium matters

Next Question. I have looked, but wanted to see if anyone knows more than what I found. Is there an aluminum supply close to Memphis? Like, within 2 to 3 hours drive? Someone way closer than Springfield MO.

Why the 'shocking' price of aluminium matters

So, not to go all.... "back on topic", but where do you guys find the best price for aluminum/volume discounts, etc? Is onlinemetals.com a good place, or is there some secret source I should know about?

    Non- Biased Engine Reviews -Aeromomentum

You have a YouTube channel. You should use it. Just take a look at Viking's YT channel to see what is available from your main competition (in my estimation) to the market. I settle down at 11:00pm every night and veg out to aero videos on YouTube for a couple hours, and I am thirsty, STARVED...

Visiting Aeromomentum booth at Oshkosh 2022 - post updates here !

Very interested in this. But I'm also interested in the Viking 195T. I was all in on a Turbo version of the AM15, but I thought it would be way closer to that 200hp threshold we all want to be up against (but not cross) for insurance purposes. Surprised it didn't gain more than a measly 13hp.

    Testing to establish Vne

So according to 23.335 ( I believe), it's all very cut and dried when you are designing to establish a base. Design Cruising Speed (Vc) = 33 * Sqrt (wing loading) Design Dive Speed (Vd) = 1.4 * Vc Never Exceed Speed (Vne) = 0.9 * Vd Then it says to flight test to expand...

Just got our packet in the mail from AirVenture. Tell me, those of you that have gotten yours, what does the Scholler camping pass look like?

Advice for new attendees/drivers to Osh

Well, a bit of a game-changer... I learned late yesterday that our EAA chapter president is going up there a little early and staking out a big enough area that all of us Chapter 182 members can camp together. Apparently they do this every year. So my wife and I will be will people who know what...

Advice for new attendees/drivers to Osh

And that is EXACTLY why we made a last minute decision to go for 3 days this year. I view it as a sacrificial visit just to know how to do it in the future.

Advice for new attendees/drivers to Osh

Also, I was surprised to learn that campfires are allowed, and they actually want you to use their wood, so as not to "introduce foreign ash" into the local environment. I don't know how real that issue is, but am happy we are allowed to have a campfire.

Advice for new attendees/drivers to Osh

I think I'm gonna print this list and carry it around with me while I'm there, hahaha... But on #2, "before you go to the airport every day" once we get settled into our camp site, I am *NOT* driving anywhere until Sunday when it's time to leave for home.

Advice for new attendees/drivers to Osh

So, driving up (north) on I-41, it will be apparent where to get off?

Advice for new attendees/drivers to Osh

We will be attending for our first time this year. I feel pretty confident about the trip, other than how to best approach for entrance into Scholler campgrounds. It appears that we are supposed to enter off Poberezny Rd. ? Any advice on that, and any other things would greatly be appreciated...

    Oshkosh 2021

My wife and I are driving up in a cage Wednesday night as soon as she gets off work. Hope to see you there. Spending the night near the Wisconsin border. Gonna get up early Thursday, drive in to Scholler, not even put up the tent until after we tour the grounds for the day! This will be our...

    Free-blowing a bulged bubble canopy?

Sorry about my participation in this thread. I am always leery of starting a new thread for a question and then getting beaten about the head and neck because "why don't you use the search function to see if this subject has already been discussed?" Which, I get that. Should we ask a Mod to see...

    Free-blowing a bulged bubble canopy?

I wonder if you could buy the UV protective film, apply it to regular clear 1/4" acrylic first, heat them together before forming over the form... (the issue being, there will likely be compound curves in my windshilds.)

    Free-blowing a bulged bubble canopy?

Yeah, I figure when the time comes, it's gonna be, get on the phone with a sales rep and tell them what I want, all the while being carful to describe my "project" as an "off road vehicle". I learned that lesson when I went asking around about turbocharges. It was all "let me tell you about this...

    Free-blowing a bulged bubble canopy?

Yeah, that's the kind of thing that worries me about sourcing it. It's like when you go to the local ACE hardware and ask the guy "Is this 6061-T6?" and he goes... "dude... it's Aluminum..."
