    Jabiru 3300 fuel burn

I have a Gen 4 in my Sonex. I use the stock Bing carb, and average almost exactly 6 gallons an hour. I could probably try to adjust the Bing for lower fuel burn, but the engine is running about as good as I can expect and I have no desire to “fix” anything. Your mileage may vary.

Just how fast was the SR-71?

And on top of his incredible career and life story, he published a couple of books. Years ago I bought a copy of “Sled Driver” for what I considered an obscene sum. Now it is a treasured part of my aviation book collection and really difficult to purchase a copy….now that I say that someone...

    Small, cheap ADS-B solution now?

Rusty I fly a Sonex with a Garmin GTX-327 and a uAvionix Echo. The GPS is a GRT SafeFlight2020 and the Mode C encoder is my GRT Mini. This has been an excellent and reliable solution, but it sure was not cheap. Robbie

    MOSAIC Rule Change

I typically just read, and do not often post...but... I wanted to point out something I read in the preview of the NPRM for MOSAIC. Quoting: “The general prohibition against experimental aircraft operating over densely populated areas or in congested airways will continue to apply under the...

EAA - For better or worse

I am a member of this forum who spends more time lurking than posting, and am a long time EAA member. I grew up in Wisconsin and went to OSHKOSH often. (The mere word AirVenture speaks volumes about the current mi$$ion) I am also a member of a local chapter. I agree with a lot of what has been...

    B-29 Replica Takes Shape

I tend to lurk and not post, but WOW! That has to be one of the most amazing homebuilt aircraft I have seen! (And I have seen Bally’s Bomber in Dixon, IL just before Jack passed. He let us look it over, take photos, the works. I took a couple with my Sonex near it)

Experimental (ELSA / E-AB) No Longer Allowed for Flight Training??

My CFI and I think I can do WINGS and my BFR in the plane(yes, I do both…). But he’s getting a LODA also to CYA. I helped found a type club for the Sonex fleet….learned a lot about transition training (thank you Joe Norris!) and what a complete mess it is. This made it much, much worse.

I received my LODA for my Sonex today from the FSDO. Less than a week from requesting it.

    Vinyl Decals

I’m always late to parties. My Sonex has vinyl wrap on the rudder, tail and wing tips, and vinyl graphics on the side. The cowling is painted. It is hangared, so no fading. No problems in two years of flying.

Who was hauling a homebuilt through Atlanta today?

I was driving and barely had time to glance at it, but it appeared to be an aluminum fuselage, possibly single seat. It was heavily wrapped with plastic for moving, and strapped to a trailer. Very hard to tell what it was in the seconds I had to look.

Who was hauling a homebuilt through Atlanta today?

So there I am on Interstate 285 in Atlanta today, en route to ATL, and I pass what looked like a homebuilt strapped to the top of a trailer. Was someone on here hauling a homebuilt around noon today?

    Hi how are ya?

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! The Pietenpol project is covered and in great shape. (It was moved from Wisconsin to Illinois) We plan to put a Continental 65 on it. It was built for a Corvair, so there are some challenges with the engine mount and differences in weight. The Sonex. Short...
