    Battery Temp monitor

Very low current drain - Mini X EFIS and MGL v10 comm radio. LED strobe and LED nav light - battery is mounted in a wing locker set up with plenty of air circulation. Voltmeter on the comm radio so far never has shown less than 13 volts. I bought the dedicated SHORAI charger for the battery - it...

    Battery Temp monitor

I have installed a Lithium Iron battery that is very light weight but my concern is that it is mounted in the wing and from what I have heard is that these batteries sometimes overheat. It would be nice to know if the battery is overheating before my wing comes off ? I have no generator or...

    Vacuum venturi

You can get a larger venturi - 4 inch - and then you could use a regulator for the 2 inches you need. That should work or just try the 4 inch venturi without the regulator to see if it is in the 2 inch range.

    Cheap ADS-B

I have been doing research on this subject as I plan on buying a GRT Mini X and connecting with the TRIG transponder to have ADS B output on the 1090 Frequency. From what I read the position information for now - until 2020 - for EXPERIMENTAL aircraft only does not have to be a certified unit -...

    Modern Flut-R-Bug PIREP?

I have a Stitts SA6B that I am restoring and it should be flying by August 2014. I have flown the Flut R Bug about 75 to 100 hours back in the 60's when my Dad bought one for $600. I helped my Dad recover it and I did fly it off a 600 ft dirt airstrip. If flew great - mid wing is nice - full...

Fuel valve extension and U Joint

I have been trying to find a universal joint and extension rod for a simple weatherhead mechanical fuel valve. So far what I have ordered turned out to be a heavy 3/4inch universal joint. The fuel valve shaft is looks to be 1/4 inch and easy to turn but can't be reached from the pilot seat...

    Right angle nutplate

I have been searching for a supplier of a right angle nut plate and have not been able to find a retail supplier? I need 7 of something like a MF6001-08 which has a floating self lock nut plate - 8/32 threads. Apparently these are not popular anymore as Aircraft Spruce discontinued them. I can...

    windshield fabrication

I am rebuilding an antique experimental plane and the original windshield is missing so I need to fabricate a new one. I tried Lexan and used a heat gun to bend the material and now the vision through it is distorted. Any ideas as to what material to use and how to bend it without distorting the...

Classic Homebuilt flight test manual ?

Yes the airworthiness cert expired long ago and the plane was stored for years in a hanger. The local FSDO I have talked to several times and the easy answer is NO - or fill out an application that might take years before they come out to look at the plane to issue a new airworthiness...

Classic Homebuilt flight test manual ?

I have been in touch with a DAR regarding renewing the airworthiness certificate on my Experimental aircraft and the DAR tells me that I will have to make up a flight test manual as if this is a "new" aircraft. This aircraft was issued an airworthiness certificate back in 1957 and the aircraft...

    Drone operations

The point us that see and avoid would be very difficult and with no transponder not much chance of radar picking up an aircraft such as the LSA aircraft I fly with no transponder. Not everyone is operating IFR or is talking and squaking to ATC.

    Drone operations

Has anyone noticed the emphasis that the FAA (or other govt agencies) is giving to approving operation of drones in US Airspace? I for one am concerned that drone operation will cause accidents and midair collisions are most often fatal. I had occasion to encounter a drone aircraft along my...
