    Triple Tree 2019

As was said above, you can get in as a non-pilot. I'm not a pilot at this point, so I used my EAA card to get in last year. You only have to belong to a legitimate (my words not theirs) aviation group tp get in. I had no problems

Will do. What days do you plan to be there? We will either drive over Thursday afternoon or Friday morning and stay until Sunday. David

    Triple Tree 2019

I plan to be there. My wife and I are driving over from Tennessee. Last year was our first year to attend. We camped out and had a blast. 7000' grass runway, lots of planes, good food, well maintained venue, workshops and fabulous people. What's not to like. Looking forward to it. David

    Sisler/Viking Cygnet SF2A

Finished the ribs today. Well except the nose ribs which I plan to do after the first wing is ready for them. Notched and sanded the rest. My notching with the router idea worked fine and I still have one spare rib for each style. On to spar building. Thanks for looking, David

    Clever Cygnet panel

That's the reputation because of the wings with the lattice and all the small pieces. One guy I talked to took a year and a half to build just the wings and he was very diligent with his time. So far I haven't gotten to work on it like I want due to adding onto my shop which has to be done (my...

    Clever Cygnet panel

Thanks for the video Matt. Can't wait to be flying in my own. Your door latches are different from what Sisler shows in his plans. Could you post a picture of those? Thanks for linking my build thread. Oh, yeah, the camera did great... David

    For Sale Craigslist

Interesting article about one that crashed. At 2300+ lbs it's a whopper. Not a great reputation though. http://www.aero-news.net/index.cfm?do=main.textpost&id=b110d4c9-1dc1-421b-97dd-67484917b91f

    Proper Strength of Plywood

Terry, my understanding is that both mahogany and birch would be heavier in the same thicknesses but I have no idea how much difference. David

    Proper Strength of Plywood

I assume Sisler called that out because it was cheaper and more than adequate within his design. I'm using it because he particularly called for it, it's cheaper and it's more readily available. David

    Proper Strength of Plywood

On the Cygnet I am building Sisler calls for 1/4" marine plywood, no face designations, but no core voids larger than 1/8" and no patches within some distance (don't recollect the number at the moment) of the main spars. I purchased Roseburg marine ply from Menards in Owensboro, KY. I've cut...

    Sisler/Viking Cygnet SF2A

Yesterday I took the Jabiru 2200 to the folks at Arion Aircraft in Shelbyville, TN (nice folks by the way). I did in fact purchase a rebuildable engine. Yippee! It'd had a stuck valve that the piston contacted on takeoff which ruined that cylinder but the rest of the engine is usable. The...

    Sisler/Viking Cygnet SF2A

The main ribs and the forward ribs in the Cygnet have purlins that run the span of the wings top and bottom. (There are four rib types in the plane-nose, forward, main and aft; all made of 1/4" marine ply per the designer.) The purlins are 5/16" x 5/8" x ~156". The purlins sit in a slot cut...

    Sisler/Viking Cygnet SF2A

No progress pictured here but I did want to take a few words to thank my Dad for many of the tools I inherited from him that will help this task along. Dad was a knifemaker my whole life and after he retired from his day job he started making knives more or less full time. I never took to the...

    Sisler/Viking Cygnet SF2A

As a teenager I began flying when I was 15. Flew when I could afford it (started working at 14) soloed when I was 17. Somewhere between 15 and 17 I joined the EAA and bought plans for a Pober Pixie. In life you have to make choices. I chose to go to college, so couldn't afford to do that and...
