    And that is the main point. But you need an extra shaft for thrust and gyroscopic moment loads and torque pulse isolator. Problem is - you cant go direct direct drive without extra coupler.

    Which is still ok for our 40-44" wide cocpit. And 19" is total engine height. I think more than few iinch could be shawed of by making flat head cover. Old one is a breather too and have to be changed..

    I do not like myself. But - it is possible, new market "situation" for uav will create some interesting diesels. And the most interesting ones, looks to be two stroke with extra supercharger for scavenging..

    This one feels guilty. But he tries this live - 300gsm (~0.001" / 0.25mm) biax was manageable till R 100mm. Any harder - it would not break but Carbon is just too stiff.

    Definetly. Even if it would need an cross atlantic flight :) But but - 93 years ago diesels was even better without turbo Packard DR-980 - Wikipedia By raw simplification and dropping all parts which was not needed :)

    There isn't at the current moment / I was not able to find one. It is kind of unicorn - aluminium block with cast iron liners, 8 valves 4 cylinder and low stress. All this equals to low weight. Next one on size list is Fiat 1.2 JTD with cast iron block, Or 1-1.2 liters engine from VW to Huyndai...

    Nope. Density same. 30% for cruise if our cruise is at lower power and we are far from 100% wot. 20% for 75% wot cruise agree.

    Same as mine in first post ? Its all depends on your mission. For me, diesel with mechanical pump is best in reliability. Maybe harder to start. Maybe with some extra weight. But, for longer mission if you take into mtow also your fuel - you are in a win win scenario.

    Do you have dvc engine at hand ? If we remove head cover which also acts as breather - how high it would be from center of crankshaft ?

    Table attached. This is one of the "weird" situation - we check for caning / airfoil deformation due to lift load, but our skin is optimized for shear. But - even here 2x300 gsm is have less deflection and having less weight (~75%) compared to 2014. All was done using composide fea software...

    You could done in 0.016" in theory. I have excel in other thred with comparision. Labor side - bonding vs flush rivet. Mcr come from aluminium sheet to cf pre formed skin on their multi pvc ribbed wing. That special skin on aluminium did not give stable results for homebuilders.

    Tried this - still some delamination marks on extreme bend places. Some better result was using 50 gsm of fg normally cured, after added some more of CF with slow epoxy. This one will give your more the few hours. It was still like a gum after 8 hours.

    0.027" with plies 45/-45/-45/45 🥲 But wet formed, not precured. Done this math on composide for cri-cri wing - CF with same thicknes will be as good as aluminium if plies are oriented properly for loads. Wet formed - CF does not have any plastic deformation..
