Yesterday, the last flying Hawker Hurricane Mk. IV crashed in Flying days in Cheb

He fell out of the turn. The turn was the initiation. Airplane slows in the turn and pilot pulls the stick and can’t see the angle of attack increasing while banked. The stick back position is same as angle of attack.

    Wing attach bolts in tension

I think Hawk 81 was talking about the taper on one side of each lug nut that fits the taper in wheel holes.. The holes in the wheel are sloppy fit. If you install the lug nuts upside down the wheel might not center and fail.

AirVenture 2022: Where have all the Ultralights gone?

If they can change the word to be inclusive why can’t they change and remove the burdensome rules to be inclusive?

    Propping to Avoid Engine Overspeed

Do you have the stock factory engine?

    Propping to Avoid Engine Overspeed

Maybe you have the wrong gear ratio. A small diameter prop needs higher rpm.

    Propping to Avoid Engine Overspeed

The previous owner may have lived at high altitude. At high altitude you need a bigger engine or supercharger or only get 75% of the rated hp cruising at 7500. Can't use a throttle stop if you want to climb high. Some airplanes the pilot limits the manifold pressure at sea level. Get the full...

AirVenture 2022: Where have all the Ultralights gone?

Yes, and one or two others across the street that are smaller.

AirVenture 2022: Where have all the Ultralights gone?

Trailering an ultralight to Airventure is standard practice. In the past, maybe a decade ago EAA had free trailer/vehicle storage area but not anymore. There is a private campground across the street with reasonable rates. ($20/day) They will let an ultralight on a trailer thru the gate for a...

    Lack of twin engine E/ABs

If you are going to connect two mower engines to make one engine, makes sense to consider inflight disconnect. I think the term is “twin pack”. Very common with turbine helicopters. It would obviously be foolish to connect each engine to a separate rotor so engine failure causes instant flip...

    Rotax 582 Exhaust Manifold Bolts

It is impossible to get those two bolts in. If you want all eight, then those two can be studs installed first, with nuts later.

Does that naturally aged T4 condition continue to age harden after delivery these past 8 years?

6013-T4 sheet 0.032" thick aluminum, strong as 2024, weldable.

Ref. Post 1 Artificially aging (precipitation heat treatment) in an oven requires first a solution heat treatment at 970°F and quick quench in cold water.

    Ineffective Oil Cooler on O-200

With high compression pistons it will need higher octane fuel to avoid entering detonation. Probably around 8.7-1 for aircooled. Might need to lower the timing.

    Once again with the FAA...

The FAA should just go away from GA authority. And not replaced with DAR either.

    Alaskan Bushmaster at Birchwood. ?

Not that I know about. Can’t certify with a car engine. Serial number can be anything you want.

    Alaskan Bushmaster at Birchwood. ?

The Bushmaster was Rick Schneider's design. Experimental. Used a Tripacer frame and stretched it. Article in Sport Aviation archive. I had a shop at Birchwood. About 300 airplanes tied outside to look at!
