    Mosquito XE: What a Blast!!!

While I have not flown one yet, I did recently acquire an XEL project. Now I just need to find time to work on it.

    Volkswagen powered Gyroplane fly’s

That's my Bensen in the video, well it was before I sold it anyhow. That was my first aircraft rebuild. Sold it to buy the derelict Scorpion that I rebuilt. Recently upgraded to a 162F

Thanks for the memories Gerald. That was an awesome day.

    Flying Gyrocopter/project

Been my experience that most guys don't want to trade aircraft for motorcycles. It's not that easy to find someone that both wants what you have and has what you want. Sell your stuff then buy the machine you're after. Here's one I know of, around the corner from me and fairly close to you...

    Rotorway Scoripon One Helicopter

I know a guy that knows a guy in Georgia that has a Scorpion 1 and wants to sell it, but it doesn't have a cabin. Should you decide you want an open model I can try to track him down for you.

Dual EGT, water temp, Hobbs, ignition switches For Sale

Am I asking too much for this stuff or is everyone going to glass panel. Feel free to make an offer.

Dual EGT, water temp, Hobbs, ignition switches For Sale

I sold off all the Mini 500 stuff I had with the exception of these few items. All were intended to monitor a Grey Head Rotax 582 but I'm sure will work on other engines. All are new and in the box with the exception of one of the ignition switches. Dual Westach EGT, 2 1/4, with probes. If you...

    Joe Waitman and Rotorway

Thanks Hillberg. He told me it was a factory deal but when the Exec prints that came with it showed otherwise I was scratching my head. Good to know there are, or at least were, others out there. Stuart, just to clarify, I don't have Waitman blades, I have Rotorway blades that were assembled by...

    Joe Waitman and Rotorway

Thanks for the input guys. The ship was originally a 78 Scorpion 133 so obsolete would be an accurate description. The guy I got it from purchased it around 86. Unclear when but he also got his hands on a partial 145 Exec kit that was being purchased in installments. At some point in time...

    Joe Waitman and Rotorway

Are any of you guys familiar with Joe Waitman and his work on/with Rotorway Scorpions? What little I know for sure is that he was a Rotorway dealer and was involved in building and selling composite rotor blades. Why the interest? I've recently acquired a Scorpion that he had done some work...

    1835 running issues

The dual 34's would keep the theme of the mid 80's gyro that I'm restoring. What about the EMPI copy of the Weber? What's the word on those? On the other hand a single carb is easier to set up and likely be lighter. But I was under the impression that downdraft was better for the Armstrong...

    1835 running issues

I had considered the coil. Tested the resistance while it was still hot and over a short period of time watched it drop from 9 ohms, to 8, to 7... About a week later my shinny new Blue Bosch shows up in the mail. Put it on and no change. Turns out one of the leads on my multimeter went bad. More...

    1835 running issues

This is what I get for writing from memory, in the morning, while still on my first cup of coffee. Firing order is, of course, 1432. I'm not sure where I read 15* for timing but that is also incorrect. I broke out the protractor to check the timing marks on the prop hub and indeed the 2 marks I...

    1835 running issues

Funny thing, I had considered switching the carbs earlier but never did. The sucking cylinder (probably just not firing regularly) that I was concerned with has gone from #3 to #1. The cutting out and miss has changed to a surge, hard to determine exactly what is cutting out now. Looks like it...

    1835 running issues

I did forget to mention it's pulley end drive. I"m using standard car numbering on the cylinders so you are correct. Sitting on the gyro #1 is front right, #2 is rear right, #3 is front left, and #4 is rear left. Firing order is 4123. Carbs are in sync.

    1835 running issues

I can't quite get my engine to run properly. I hope you guys can help out. What I have is an older HAPI 1835 engine that's been hiding in a barn since the mid 80's. Pusher configuration, 009 ignition, dual Weber 228's. Mechanical fuel pump putting out 3.5 lbs. pressure continuous using ethanol...

    Anybody recognize this prop hub?

Dose anyone recognize this hub? I think it's a HAPI but not sure. What I really need to know is what to torque the hub bolt to.
