    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Success can have many different interpretations here. Depends on if you are just talking about success for funding release or for successful verification of wing/canard design, power plant, etc. One may also consider degrees of success such as reaching a certain flight speed, fuel consumption...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Oh, you mean like the time and money going into a design for something that would actually help the project both succeed and provide a great method for donors to learn to fly one? Does calling my statements wayward immediately make yours factual? While it will take time, I am confident that my...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Delayed, absolutely. Who says this isn't the most direct route given available resources? And who says donations weren't honored? Though late, to the best of my knowledge the shirts, hats, mugs, etc. were delivered (i.e. what the contributors knew they were going to receive at their homes in...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Where did I say all? That said (at least for all of the examples cited), the engine cooling ducting entry via wing root with split cooling for IC, oil cooler, and radiator certainly qualifies. The short as I have ever seen (cool side turbo outlet less than 1ft to IC directly back up to duct...

While unsubstantiated for Synergy, the greatest similarities I see are the detracting comments. 6 seat not 5, won't likely fly before the DeltaHawk engine is FULLY tested and receives its engine certification which (yes after years of waiting) will actually happen now that the newly redesigned...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

@cheapracer.. Yes, please expound about the “stain” Synergy has plagued the industry with. Other than extremely slow development and some claims that have yet to be demonstrated in test flights, I’m missing the harm factor. He even regularly affirms the purchase of other aircraft to keep the...

A question to also ask is: Is his hand moving the stick or is the stick jostling his hand? Anecdotal evidence of runway condition would seem to infer the movement is excessive in either case.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Though he has improved his pump/injector tuning situation, it is still quite sub-optimal. This should really have all been done on a test stand with increased instrumentation and extra EGT sensors before being strapped back on an aero-body and spinning down the runway. His engine telemetry...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

With the new pump arriving on Monday (7:05 in video) you actually think he won't fire it up and show us its working on Tuesday? I suppose if he followed my email advice and pulled a manifold off and added at least one EGT sensor and a few other suggestions we might have to wait until Saturday...

Actually the low pressure boost pump in Audi 3.0 TDI feeds around 65psi to the HP pump. So he actually did need either a third LP boost pump or a higher pressure supply pump. That said, if he plumbs it right without any other mods or EGT limits it could be an exciting Tuesday video.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Now that he will be able to increase his fuel flow, unless he modifies his map and boost parameters accordingly, without more (cool) air via properly matched turbos and ICs, while he may certainly achieve higher HP, I'm guessing we'll be seeing more smoke and higher EGTs. At least he did do one...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Though his primary mistake here is trying to change one variable in a multivariate equation and believe he is going to solve the problem, as noted before, he continues to forge ahead without consulting people that have information that would be of value to solving his problem much more...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Exactly. Name calling doesn't really help much either. Not surprising anyone wouldn't respond (at least positively) to that. Something like a list of flight critical items would be imminently more constructive like: Reduce slack in ailerons to less than XXX Increase rigidity of front strut...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

I had implicitly included those as flight critical items for him to fix.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Nope. Just doing the math based upon known FWB weight, Graflight V-8 weight, and prior viewing of build videos where it is easy to see where weight can be trimmed. Even if you could only get it to 2600 it would be very interesting to see what performance could be attained. It’s not worth...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

As noted previously, you could increase the unit cost by $100K while dropping the weight by at least 300 lbs and improving TBO by a thousand+ hours by just using one of these: https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2019/july/24/certification-for-eps-v8-diesel-in-progress. And I'm sure...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

I agree - some poor engineering aside, let's at least assume noble intent until PROVEN otherwise first-hand. My interactions with him via email, at least those which he responded to, were very civil and mostly accepting/acknowledging of various shortcomings - the most critical of which he...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

At least he finally realized he had an IOT issue (and a front strut lateral stability issue - perhaps he'll add supports to that as well). Maybe he learned some other things in that course and after looking at his post IOT tuning numbers he will realize that he still has turbo and IC issues to...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Well, it's YouTube Tuesday so I'm sure there will be more fodder for potentially more Raptor related commentary later today.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Yeah, it could use 5 or 10 more pounds in the rear - that’d be less than a 1% increase in the FWB anyway ;)
