    Crosby CR-4

That is how you call it. Thank you. That is helpful and precise. Everything else would get the job done close enough. Thanks again.

    Crosby CR-4

Now that I figured out to attach the spars in the middle, how to build a leading edge with a variable radius along the span?

    Crosby CR-4

i think you might be right. Looks flat at the top inside the fuselage. Maybe it is only the bottom spar cap that is made of 2 parts. That might be a solution.

That is what I was looking in the photos, magnifying them as much as possible, but the become very pixelated.

    Crosby CR-4

Well, it could have been built as a one piece, but being made of metal, unless it was poured hot, it had to be assembled at the middle. That is why I was looking for plans. See how the two parts were joint together.

    Crosby CR-4

That is whaa I thought too. It is made out of four panels. The middle two are ”more permanently “ attached togheter, while the outer two can be removed with 2 pins on each side (top and bottom)... Wasn’t sure, but I guess it makes sense now. Thanks.

    Crosby CR-4

For me a kink is a sharp bent. I was talking about the top and bottom of the wing where they meets in the centre of the airplane. If there is no joint in that spot, then it must be a sharp bent. That is why I was looking for plans. If there is a joint in the middle of the wing, inside the...

    Crosby CR-4

From what I heard he was a very good pilot. I guess he build the airplane for his own skills. I don’t think it was intended for “safety” or to be easy to fly. Most likely it was intended to fly as fast as possible on a specific power. I guess those were the days of true race pilots. It would be...

    Crosby CR-4

It is Russ’ airplane. I bought it last year, few month before he passed away. I like it, but he didn’t fly it much before I bought it, so a bit of expenses to bring it back “on line”.... I am not building a Cr-4. I am trying to build something else with a tapered wing and I don’t know how to...

    Crosby CR-4

Hello. Anybody by any chance has a drawing of the CR-4 wing construction? I have seen some pics and looks like the wing is made out of 3 sections: one central and two outer panels. but the central panel skin should have a kink on the centre line as the whole wing is tapered. I am curious how the...

    VSI shows descend in flight

I took the autocorrect off, but looks like, for what reason, it is back on.

    VSI shows descend in flight

I was thinking at what are you saying, but when I test it with the syringe, it works normal. It shows climb and if I stop the plunger, slow gets back to zero. When I push the plunger back in, it shows descent and then returns to zero. Looks like no plugs. Don’t know what to say. Did not fly it...

    VSI shows descend in flight

I just took the lines attached to the static and pitot side and the lines were ovalized. So I am think it was leaking through there. I sealed everything and I am waiting for the wind to die out. it is gusting to 16kts and straight across. worst case I will come in tomorrow

    VSI shows descend in flight

I just got a new VSI from a friend at the field. I will put it on and if the wind dies down today, I will try it, see what it does.

    VSI shows descend in flight

I was thinking of that and that would mean that the ASI is under reading, but it doesn’t seem like. And I can’t find out from where if it is.

    VSI shows descend in flight

The VSI is hooked to the same line that goes in the static port of the ASI, so if the ASI is working ok, I am thinking VSI should work ok too. I used a serine to these the integrity of the instruments and only the altimeter was leaking. ASI and VSI were ok and responding app to the pressure...

    VSI shows descend in flight

Hello. I have a small ultralight and in flight, VSI shows 1700-2000ft/min descend. I took the instruments off, one by one and tested on a vacuum system. ASI has no leaks, in fact is the only one working properly, VSI works normal: increase the vacuum, it climbs, decrease it, it descends...

Airplane For Sale Become One Of The Last Starfighters By Buying This Pristine Mach Two Capable F-104

Well, for me is hard to believe that, even flying for 60 years, someone can average almost 800/year. Maybe working for a company that work you to death, but paying For your own flying.... Don’t know, sound bit of a stretch to me. I average about 840hrs/year from 2017-2019, just before COVID...
