100 years of Fournier: a history of aviation’s original ‘green’ promoter

You must have followed a path similar to mine? G.C. was said to have an electronic version - in English - and better than the original translation.

100 years of Fournier: a history of aviation’s original ‘green’ promoter

"In his book he pondered: ‘Why were there so many constraints and such crippling rules, and why were they imposed only on certified aircraft? << >> Now, approaching his hundredth birthday, he has but one regret: that he didn’t emigrate from France to the United States," If he had moved I...

Experimental aircraft purchase - Do I need to pay sales tax and how? (California USA)

Depends on how practical it is for you to move to a less 'complicated' state.

    A/C nail supplier

I had no idea aircraft nails were hard to get, much less no longer made. A quick search turned up 20 ga stainless steel staples in the ubiquitous T-50 size that might be an acceptable substitute for those that leave the nails/staples in?

Airplane Wanted Wanted - Quickie Q1 Project

I've read that the full VW caused this problem - for some. It is one of the reasons I abandoned the 1/2 VW for my Quickie.

    Unlimited Air Racing Dead?

Reno draws 150K spectators each year? If there were a circuit that number would likely drop significantly while the overall attendance would be greater due to travel and scheduling flexabality for those that can't justify the travel. For comparison: Reno KCPR at the same scale Accommodating...

    Unlimited Air Racing Dead?

That highlights another limitation. It is only Reno. How long would NASCAR survive with only Daytona?

    Hydrogen generation use and storage.

It's called myopia filtered through rose tinted readers. But why worry? Musk will inoculate a new dish for us on Mars..........we will just need much longer wings for the typical EAB. * I blame my astigmatism, inherited from my mother, for seeing the world in a distorted way.

Thanks for the update. I'll replace my copy.

I am building a tractor, side by side, engine behind pilot gyroplane.

Will be interesting to see how it flies after it is finished. Quite a unique VW conversion.

    Flight testing...

Are these planes of known type? If so and there is a users group that would be a good place to start asking specific questions. If these are unique aircraft (all EABs are unique in some way) then this is what the FAA has to say on the subject of flight tests...

    Hydrogen generation use and storage.

If we would just let them have their carbon free nuclear energy...............

    Hydrogen generation use and storage.

It is interesting to compare the spread of lights on the earth at night as seen from space with a time laps of a growth on a petri dish. This curve is seen not only in nature - but unfortunately in our own little hobby.

Wooden structure reinforced with carbon fibre

Thatone For the TE the triangulated sticks are going to be the lightest - and the most time consuming. An alternate method I've considered is a saw slot in the TE and then glue in a "T" strip made from thin ply and a small cap stick. these would be easy and quick to make: Unfortunately the...

The rise of FrankenEngine - An engine for the VP-21

Not so sure about the 'very', but for a small high rpm gear reduced 2 stroke engine multiple injections are likely to be limited with current piezo injectors and cpu speed......I haven't' done any math. Did a search for diesel chain saw. Jonsereds XA back in 1954 to 1060 is the only one I...

    Hydrogen generation use and storage.

I have a fondness for butanol as a carbon neutral substitute. Grow my own tomatoes and use the vine to fuel my vehicle so I can buy some bacon at the store for my BLTs. Still a few years away from the butanol version of Mr. Fusion. ;)

The rise of FrankenEngine - An engine for the VP-21

Is this kind of what you were thinking? Brushless electric for the blower would save weight - but make the engine electric dependent. If I were to go to all the trouble of designing this I'd have to seriously dig into spark ignited diesel research.

    New glider design

I can't say I never posted anything on RAS but I was a full time lurker. Compared to RAH, RAS was a pretty mild and conservative bunch.
