    Unlimited Air Racing Dead?

They changed the 2 seat rule after Sharp went through the trouble of making NXT fit two people. It may have been changed to allow the GP5. Timing was about right. 400mph is no joke. These guys are getting a lot of hp out of those engines at 80+ inches mp. Getting them to survive seems to be...

EAA No Longer Has Free SolidWorks

I'm going to give the new one a shot. I hate that it's web based, but I blew my opportunity to learn SW when I had the thing on my computer. I use Rhino and it's so different I have no clue where to start with SW. It's pretty frustrating.

    The A-4 Skyhawk

If it's a Freewing I set one up and it flies very well with no gyro. I even plugged up the cheater hole because it's not needed. Maybe your cg is off or your throws are too high. It has a very high roll rate that can be toned down by changing the linkage positions. I don't see why a scaled...

    10/23 Raptor Video

It was the other way around. It always needed left aileron. The airplane wants to roll right. He put the tab on the left wing and it is bent up. It appears to have not been too much.

Whats the pressure like under the canard? I'm thinking it might not be a good place for a cooling exit.

Twin engines packaged to replace O-360, both engines sharing a PSRU housing driving independent coaxial props?

I watched John Crocker race in the late 80's. He was still alive at least 10 years after the RB-51 crash. His #6 "Sumthin Else" was my favorite racer.

best 100 HP auto/motorcycle engine conversion?

I love motorcycle engines, but connecting them to a propeller seems difficult. Plus theres the extra weight of the transmission. I did see a pic once of a pusher that had a cbr 1000 in it and he used the chain drive.

    Internal aileron linkage

They got that Cirrus idea from the P-51 I bet. It has cables turning the pulley that the control link follows.

    10/23 Raptor Video

I was looking at model turbine engines the other day and while they can run on both diesel and jet A, you are required to use more oil on jet fuel. I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes for an Audi, but I thought it was interesting.

    10/23 Raptor Video

Even though I think moving the cg forward is absolutely the right move, it will not decrease drag. The canard will have more camber with a bigger slot and it will make bigger tip vortices. Several degrees less aoa is not going to happen. 3 degrees less would represent a massive loss of lift...

Good to have your input here Creighton. I had no idea an adjustable stab was involved with that accident. Steve C

Aero News Network Video - Terrible Raptor 1st Flight Review

It was an attempt to make the airflow jump over the wheel well. We probably better not comment on that or we'll get in trouble.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Sorry Jeff, but there wasn't much but fault to find. That flight was insanely risky knowing what we knew from previous tests. The part where he seems to have no friends is sad. Most folks I've run into at the airport have been very friendly. I'd have to assume he isn't.

I don't see excessive wing flex either. This thing has enough much more obvious problems.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Left aileron up the whole flight. Never once went below the wing. He really should do something about that. If that prop didnt hit the ground it sure looked close.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

As much as I think it was insane to fly with a cooling situation that he knew would not allow a climb to pattern altitude, I am glad that it did not end in a 911 call. Would love to see the landing. Must not have been too ugly if he taxied back to the hangar.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Looked to me like the very first thing is did after leaving the ground was bank right again. I wonder how many more times he'll blame the wind or fuel before he fixes his wing rigging... nah, probably will add more weight.

Cheap (ish) and easy D Tube female mold CNC idea

That is amazingly low cost! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I spent a whole lot more and that's with a very DIY machine. Part of that cost was from spending on a budget linear rail system that just wasn't good enough, so I tossed them and spent again on better stuff.
