@PagoBay.... top right of each of those videos says exactly what I mean, that's my point. Both videos you have shown are from Vikings YouTube. Their logo is in the top left. I can find complete build videos of people using just about any engine you can think of, LS1 chevy conversions...

I agree with the EFI and I will go to Electric ignition systems as well. I am not opposed to water cooling either. A water cooled engine with an external oil cooler as well... there are a lot of improvement to more efficient aviation engines that can be made.

I never suggested it was being censored or manipulated, what I said is they have done a good job on the internet to put a lot of their marketing and videos out there. You run a search for Viking engine problems, issues or failures, and more often than not 98 percent of your search results bring...

Here is the problem with your statement, there is a lot of videos, but finding independent information is difficult. Most of the videos I have found are from Viking or Zenith. I have searched through a lot of videos and forums. In this day and age there is no such thing as 100% customer...

I am actually going with a known auto conversion for my build, cooling issues are easy to solve, as for the ECM's most of the known auto conversion company's have produced either the fix, or their own ECM. Fuel systems are easy to manipulate and fix as well, and again those fixes are readily...

Basic economics are at play here. Traditional Aviation engine manufacturers are limited to a small customer base in comparison to the automotive industry. World wide, Anyone of the major auto manufacturers will produce more new cars in a day, than all of the small aircraft manufacturers...

VB if you want to help and educate, that's cool, but some people come across in a way that feels and seems more like a personal attack. It takes years to properly design an aircraft. But every design starts with a vision, a thought, and before you put even pen to paper in design, you need to...

I am still researching the carbon fiber, sandwich materials, and epoxies. I know there are several weights, weave design, and applications. the Sandwich materials range from Aluminum to Aramid honeycombs, and in a full design, i am sure it is going to be a mixture of materials. For instance i...

Starting to think I upset you guys... the silence is deafening. Lol. I have bought plans for a J-3, and will be joining EAA next week. I am actually going to go with a traditional set up, only I am going to widen the cab slightly and move the front seat back to accommodate my larger frame. But...

    Carbon Fiber Tube Fuselage

I don't know I would go the tube truss route with carbon fiber, you can use vacuum infusion method, you make a mold, lay your putter skin then use case on wrapped foam to create bulk heads and supports inside the same mold.... vacuum bag the unit as a whole and infuse your epoxy.... now your...

I bought plans to a ULF-1 and want to build it. Yeah, I said it.

Welcome aboard! These guys hanging in these threads are awesome and have lots of knowledge to share! ( present company excluded, I am still learning). But for all that lays ahead, someone (usually several, each with their own idea) will have the solution you seek. Looking forward to see your...

I have been giving thought into how to Insure even infusion through the mesh on my ideas, and came up with a couple ideas using a vacuum pump. But honestly I am still working on just how to make that work well. I don't have millions of dollars of equipment. So making my molds then laying wet...

Okay I had a thought last night. Has anyone ever worked with fiberglass? Don't laugh, but I had an idea of using plywood and foam board to make an outer hull for the airplane, say two or three pieces. The use the hull as the outer skin of the aircraft. Strengthen the hull buy adding either...

Last thing in the world you want is me eating chili on a hunting trip. The gas smell will drive off all wild life within 75 miles. I found some plans for different airplanes, STOL designs and some mid wing and low wing longer range planes... so here are my thoughts. I think I am going to...
