Sensorless FOC controller based on InstaSPIN for aviation projects?

Sorry Martin, The question was for jlcortex about the FOC controller. Regards

Sensorless FOC controller based on InstaSPIN for aviation projects?

How easy is to configure the controller? Is there extensive documentation or a specifyc forum for using the firmware? How difficult is to build up the circuit board if i have a soldering station? Regards

    Experimental sailplane self-launch electric conversion

Hi! I will sell a full package in the short/middle term. What type of glider do you have? Regards Emir

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

Say that to the Zeppelin's guys... I was not referring to the result of the reaction. Yes, the result is water, and a lot of energy dissipated. A LOT. You also have to add the danger of having a pressure vessel light enough to be carried (thin walls) Don't get me wrong, I'll put that thing if...

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

So.... People says that li ion is dangerous but we are willing to ride over a pressure vessel with hidrogen.... At least the dead will come quicker hehehehehe

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

Wankels are hard to find in Argentina (wankers, we have a lot). According to the things I can find here, I can strip a market generator and make it lighter or use the 1/2vw

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

I am thinking in a 1/2 Vw engine as a generator... That could work, be light and with low vibrations

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

I am using two Energus TinyBMS. It has only two temperature sensor per BMS and up to 16cells in series. They are cheap enough and complex enough to fulfill most of the requirements.

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

Probably there's more than one BMS It could easily be 12 BMS with 8 probes each.

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

Martin What kind or brand of BMS are you using? How many temperature sensor it has? Regards

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

There is some papers saying that storing the packs at low temperatures extend the battery's calendar life. Of course you have to preheat the pack before using it. Regards

    Battery packs - fire danger?

I would like to remember you that there is 200 sailplanes equipped with the FES(front electric sustainer) that has the battery in the fuselage and they had only a couple of fires. They were because of mistreated battery pack. In total flying hours the two fires are a very good number in...

I can't recommend it, because they are Chinese and you never know what happens in their quality check. But I have a freerchobby and works... You may need to rewind it if you burn it because they tend to have less copper than needed. You will hear a lot of bad things about Kelly controllers. But...

    Battery packs - fire danger?

Instead of having a mechanism to release the battery and having it hanging. With the problem that the power cables don't disconnect properly and tear the motor down the bulkhead. A better firewall and separation of the battery of critical systems is the solution. Lifepo4 is a extremely safe...

    Current UL Solutions

Yes, You can use the emrax for both project. Look at the power vs rpm chart. The power output increases with the motor speed. If you need more power you have to go to a smaller propeller running faster or make a reduction with belts and pulleys. Next week I'll get the last materials to start...

Bille, Electric motors does not loose power with altitude because don't need oxygen. The propeller does lose some power but is not much a problem. If you are using it only to climb you can set the pitch of the blade for that mission, there is no need of variable pitch. I dont know if there is...

    Post your project here

Bille, Nice project! If you still have 15:1 glide ratio at 45mph and assuming 320lbs of total weight you will need a little less than 4kW of electric power (that includes the efficiency loss of battery, controller, motor and propeller) to maintain level flight, so with 10kw you will get a...

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

Yes, you are absolutely right. You have to think in all the weather conditions. Another thing that came to my mind is that the best efficiency rpm is not always the working rpm. So, indeed you have to increase cooling. Luckily you are putting the battery at only 2C discharge. If you are using...

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

Martin, Towing cycles are short. With a 5 minute towing, 8kW and 17kg of motor you may have not enough time to heat the motor mass having mixed cooling. Consider also to add an air vent to the motor with a door. You only need to open it when towing. So you don't add cooling drag when touring...

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

Martin, What is the battery capacity of the phi-nix and what gliders you expect to tow? I am trying to get argentinian administration to add "electric motor" to the LSA rules for letting the electrics tow and give flying lessons. Regards
