    Opinion on stabilizer wanted....

So....this is a bit of redesign on my RW19 Stork and I would like some opinions. Roger used L-brackets to attach the horizontal stab to the fuselage of his original just like a TEAM Minimax does. I have a few issues with that method.... 1. A 1/4" bolt going through a 3/4" longeron only leaves...

    Prepping plywood for T-88.....

I remember reading that plywood needs prepped before being glued with T-88 but I can't find that discussion again. If I recall correctly.....the ply is prepped by scraping with razor blades or sanding to get the coating off. Can someone expand on this....??? Kevin

    EMP's and aviation.....surviving the apocalypse

This post is going to be pretty far out there but it's still aviation related. So,on the days that I'm in the shop working ,at actual work, I drown out the noise of the machinery by listening to audio books. I'm particularly fond of the dystopian future & zombie apocalypse genre. Several of the...

    Lift struts....

The Ragwing Stork that I am building calls for 4130 tubing 1" OD x .058 x 11' for the lift struts. Since I am having such a hard time finding the plastic streamline covering material for the round tubes I thought I might just order streamline struts and be done with it. While looking at the...

Any artists on the Forum ???

    Rotax 670/gearbox/prop..magic # ?

I'm hoping someone smarter than myself can help me find the magic # for engine, gearbox and prop combination. The goal is to acheive maximum static thrust while still being able to maintain a decent cruise speed. Once my Ragwing Stork is completed it will be my leisurely daily flyer but I would...

    *^#%@ 'ing Wood Bees !!!!

Does anyone else that's building a wooden aircraft have nightmares of a wood bee destroying their project or is it just me ? The d*mn bees are everywhere for the past few years. I killed 12 of them over the weekend trying to munch on my new carport that I built onto my garage last year. I even...

What happens to the fly ?

So here's the scenario...... I'm in my truck and heading up the highway Saturday morning doing around 70 mph. There had been a fly bothering me for a few miles so I decided to role the window down all the way in hopes that he would egress the vehicle. A few miles later and the fly gets a little...

Has anyone ever thought about building a small aircraft like a Hummelbird,Z-Max,Challenger,etc...and converting it to Rc ? Then entering it in a RC scale competition such as the Mint Julip ? I'm not...

    Building the fuselage sequence ?

My question pertains to the building sequence of the fuselage for my RW19 Stork. I'm at the point that both stick built fuselage sides are built and laying in the jig, stacked on top of each other. My jig was designed to allow both sides to be built together so they would be identical. The...
