    Flightview EFIS and EMs

I agree. I'm not an Apple guy myself, I have a friend who is building and he is considering this system. It's pretty new so I thought I'd ask about it here to see in anyone had used it yet. I wouldn't want to be the first one to buy it. Also, I'm not a fan of the touch screen controls...

New Member, Working on Recreational Pilot License and completing a homebuilt project Introduction and request for guidance/help.

That's a challenging project but doable. If you have not already done so, I recommend you join the Experimental Aircraft Assn. eaa.org The website indicates there is a chapter in Chilliwack . Go to their meeting with some of your photos and ask for help from their Technical Advisers. There...

Trailering from Texas to California recommendations

You might also check the dimensions and see if your plane would fit in a Uhaul truck. I just looked at the website, you can rent a truck, 26'2" x 8'2" x 8'3" one way from Texas to California for about $1100. Put the plane in the truck to keep it protected during the trip and tow the empty...

FAA Form 8050-2 Bill of Sale

I got a call back from the FSDO. They now allow the bill of sale form to be downloaded from the FAA website, filled in and printed out. The form sent to OK city with the new application for registration must have an original signature. I didn't ask about the application for registration form...

FAA Form 8050-2 Bill of Sale

Anyone know if the FAA will accept a Bill of Sale that has been downloaded from the FAA website and printed out? The last time I sent in a Bill of Sale the feds would only accept the original form. I had to go to the FSDO and pick up a copy. I can't get the local FSDO to answer the phone and...

    Compass requirements?

For those of you using the little pocket compasses in your plane, have you checked to see if you experience any deviation errors in flight? Depending on your plane, you might be better off without it.

    Fabric covering choice

I'm a first time builder. I used Stewart's on my Highlander and am happy with the results. I built and painted my plane in my garage attached to my house so using the solvent based paints was not an option. It is impossible to keep the noxious smell of the solvent based products out of a house...

Flight Club - Ultralight Build Log

I disagree with Hotwings on this. I have about four thousand hours in tailwheel aircraft, mostly C185, Beaver and Otters. All had steerable tailwheels. I now fly a Just Highlander that qualifies as an LSA. When I built my Highlander I installed steerable tailwheel that was recommended by the...

    Making a firewall

I went from .032" SS to .020" Titanium. I would have used .016" Titanium if I could have sourced it. If anyone has built one of those planes with the passenger compartment protected by stainless steel on all sides I'd like to see the photos. I'd especially like to see it in flight.

    Making a firewall

You might consider using titanium rather than stainless. You can buy a 24" x 36" sheet of .020" from McMaster-Carr for $162. More expensive than stainless but I saved over 5 pounds on my firewall. Certified aircraft can use as thin as .016" titanium. McMaster-Carr The melting temperature...
