    Gotta make this exhaust part

I just modded a twin Comanche exhaust to fit my Tailwind. Used the pie cut process to make mild directional changes. Have seen the technique used on both motorcycle and hot rod exhaust systems. You Tube is a friend for this.

Leveling a Wag Aero Sportsman 2+2

You might also check in on the J3 forum. There are a bunch of knowledgeable folks over there. My Cubby used the upper fuse structure to level from. It puts the Tail WAY up in the air! Good luck. Tom beat me to it.

What did you do on your airplane project today?

So over the weekend I built a new suction hose from the 3 way to the pump. Finished the tidy up of hoses and cabling. Put the big battery back in the tray and gave it a whirl. Turned nicely and fired up on the 4-5 blade. Only running on 2 plugs on left mag. Pulled the mag back off and checked...

New Member, Working on Recreational Pilot License and completing a homebuilt project Introduction and request for guidance/help.

Welcome. You will need “eye brows” for cooling. Look at a J3 Cub. Several sources for those. Some much better than others. I’ve not heard anything good from a sloshing sealer. You’ll need to get all that out of there. The fan stopping is not a happy quiet, even for higher time pilots...

Dad told the story of helping a friend who was contracted to tow banners with his J5 on a day when Dick couldn't and the gent who set it up changed the banner to a LOT more letters. Dad being a newb and green said sure. Said he dragged it in the grass and trees for quite a ways before he could...

    How Hot Is Too Hot?

Lycoming doesn't get upset until the oil temps exceed 245 for a while. Many of the aerobatic guys have called to discuss worrisome temps of 220 and the techs respond, "call back when it gets over 245".

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

I can only watch his stuff when I'm in the right frame of mind (think NASCAR waiting to see the crash) and I noticed his knees constantly dancing. Either he's a nervous Nelly, or the Raptor is not stable at those speeds.

What are you designing, building, flying or interested in?

VB, if there is one airplane that I've had in the past that I would love to have again, it would be my '56 172. For a certified airplane I'd put up with the regs for that.

What are you designing, building, flying or interested in?

Rehabbing FWF on 2 projects. Super Starduster SS101 or SA101. The plans say SS, Aircraft Spruce lists it as SA. Had first extended run last weekend. Hope to fly it before end of year. Wittman Tailwind W-8. Rebuilt engine mount and landing gear. Previous rebuilder was obviously a plumber as it...

    2020-Sept 20thReno Racers:

Bob, Having raced there once, with only family and friends as sponsors, it’s a sport for the wealthy. I couldn’t have done it without my families help. If there was money to be made with sponsors, ala NASCAR, NHRA etc, you would be seeing the innovation. The other side of it is that the...

What did you do on your airplane project today?

Made it to the airport today and re-rigged the mixture lever. I picked up a mechanical oil pressure gauge to compare to the unit in the airplane. Plumbed it and zip tied the gauge in the cockpit. Pulled it outside and secured it with a tie down and chocks, hooked up the battery charger and spun...

Wittman Tailwind modified to meet E-LSA?

I will make somebody a heck of a deal on a Nesmith Cougar project if you want to try for LSA, but you'll have to use a different wing like the Daphne. Have documentation, but the registration has expired.
