My two cents is that buying the right tool for a tricky job is usually worth it even if you only use it once because of the amount of aggravation...
I'm starting to think the half-U-shaped gear I posted is the best way for him to go.
I'm pretty confident it would work well from just eyeballing it and picturing how the curve would flex, or I wouldn't be suggesting it. I just...
I just wanted to know if doing it the way I had it in the picture would suck or not.
Let me rephrase a bit. Would the stresses of regular use become concentrated in such a way as to make this configuration likely to fail horribly?
How do the stresses work out if you make it in two parts and mount it like so?
That flybike could be even more compact if wing chord were extended a bit with a reflexed airfoil so the tail could be eliminated.
There are people here who haven't explored nestofdragons?
That's where I learned about how fleas and other tandem wing designs work.
The common sense, it burns!
Include grab handles on it as a safety feature?
Yeah, it would have to be a two or three lobe blower that doesn't spiral.
Yeah, the fan wing is the thing I'm hoping to replace with the vane pump, though it would work in a similar way.
Just because I like you guys.
Think peaceful thoughts my friend. I'm just kicking around ideas. I like the simple Piojo too.
Bat wings are made of stretchy skin and don't flap nearly as fast as VTOL thrusters would have to though.
Probably wouldn't be too hard to mount flea wings on a recumbent motorcycle, and tow the wings folded up when driving like that one flying car...
So far I've only seen the volerain running as a slow speed mock-up.
They have calculations but I remain skeptical until I can see actual thrust...
I read about that one a while back. Have they got a flying test model yet?
Certainly not as efficient as a single large prop, but maybe more...
Thanks. I probably should have posted that bit earlier.
Ease of disassembly was one of the reasons I advocated the split wing.
Having no moving bits aft of the pilot means the aft wing can just be slid...
