    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Well, apparently my comments about his dragging brakes not being "normal behringer behavior" has gotten me kicked off, too! Whatever will I do..........

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

I was there when one of the weigh jobs was done at Cherokee. Approximately 3,100 lbs empty weight.........

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

He does have to leave the belt installed, it runs the water pump and alternator in addition to the compressor. Don't recall for sure, but it might drive the prop governor.......

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

The Wasabi video mentions that the rudder pedal geometry makes it very difficult to apply rudder without inadvertently applying the brakes..

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

The A/C compressor is belt driven by the engine..

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Perf one of his recent videos, his airworthiness certificate has been renewed and updated to take the relocation to Valdosta into account... His "flight" was legal in that sense....

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

When he first brought it up to Cherokee for final assembly, one of the guys who did a lot of work on it mentioned that the engine package, firewall aft, was about 1,000 lbs...........

Another quirk of the engine ECU programming---A while back, in one of his videos, Peter mentioned a "feature" of the ECU that would automatically dial back the power if the engine was beginning to run too hot! So, think about this scenario. Initial climb out and the engine begins to overheat...

He’s been renting an apartment or long term hotel here. I’m sure he will relocate near the airport.

No landing fee at Cherokee, so, no.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Word around Cherokee airport today is that he's moving to south Georgia. Valdosta. KVLD. 8,000 foot runway.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Up to this point, even Peter has realized that he wouldn't be a good person to do the actual flights. I hope he doesn't change his mind under pressure......

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

This is pure speculation on my part, but the previous times Justin and Elliot were here, they arrived via commercial air lines and drove up to the airport. On this trip, they flew in with a PA30 directly to Cherokee. Part of yesterday was spent with them flying around the airport area looking...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Yes, Cherokee is my home airport. Watched Justin and Elliot take off. Word travels fast on a small airport!

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

6,000 feet is 1,000 more than Cherokee. The big issue is where to go if there is a major problem right after takeoff. Cherokee is surrounded by lots of trees and little, if any, open ground. The only decent option would be Interstate 575 which runs roughly parallel to the runway, about 3/4 of...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Justin and Elliot are heading home. No flight this week. Apparently, they don’t want to do the test flight out of here (KCNI) because there are no good options if there is a big problem right after takeoff.....
  17. R

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Hmmmm....... there are several power lines that cross 575 in that area. Might make an approach interesting...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

I don't have an engineering degree, but I have been an A&P for 42 years. I'm also at the same airport as the Raptor, and have seen it up close on many occasions and have talked with Peter numerous times. He's a nice enough guy to talk to, but he has a hard time accepting suggestions. When he...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

I'm not sure what there is to be jealous of. An airplane that hasn't flown, with an equally unproven, very complex, power plant, that weighs nearly 1,000 lbs more than the design target weight. With a lot of "fixes" that may or may not be proper, designed by a fellow who's favorite answer when...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

This airplane is up here at my home airport, Cherokee County, (KCNI). I've seen it in person on several occasions, but I don't go into that hangar much anymore. Sounds like Justin and Elliot are due back at the end of July.
